Ulster Carpets U18 Cup: Ballymena 32-8 Belfast Met
Ballymena secured the double as they repeated the success of their Ulster Provincial League campaign by again beating Belfast Met to a title.
Belfast Met had opened the scoring at Kingspan Stadium with a Jamie Carville penalty, but Ballymena quickly hit back as Player of the Match Jack Gaston was sent clear to score.
They soon extended their lead when hooker Ryan McCartney scored off the back of a lineout maul, before they were temporarily reduced to 14 as Richard McCann was shown a yellow card just before half time as they led 10-3.
Ballymena were forced to defend well as Belfast Met attacked in waves, but once they were back to a full 15, they scored again through fullback Gaston, who rounded off a well-worked move off the back of a scrum.
Gaston then showed superb pace and great feet as he skipped past two defenders before running in a sensational solo try to complete his hat-trick and make it 20-3.
Belfast Met quickly scored off the resulting restart after a Ballymena error in defence, but they soon recovered and captain Jack French powered over from 8 yards after a lineout inside the Met 22.
Joseph O'Rawe added the extras to make it 27-8, and as Ballymena were getting ready to celebrate, replacement Callum Mitchell was on hand to finish off a nice move and score a try in the corner to make it 32-8 at full-time.
Ulster Carpets U16 Cup: Coleraine 27-13 Virginia
Virginia looked to have taken early control of this final as they raced into an 8-0 lead. Michael Pienaar slotted a penalty before Rory Crawley recovered a cross-field kick to score the game's first try.
However, Coleraine soon sparked into life and winger Oliver McDowell raced clear to dive into the corner to score and get his side back into the game.
They quickly scored a similar try off the back of a scrum, as the backs combined well to release McDowell for his second try. James Francis Burns kicked the conversion to send Coleraine into the break leading 12-8.
They started the second half strongly, and prop Jacob Parkhill powered over after a tapped penalty to extend their lead. Burns was again accurate with the boot to move his side into a 19-8 lead.
Virginia rallied and hit back through a Jensen Tynan try, only for Coleraine to quickly reply through left winger Ben Neely, who darted clear from the 22 and finished well in the corner.
It made the score 24-13, before Burns kicked a penalty to ensure it was a two-score game and hold off any chance of a Virginia comeback.
Ulster Carpets U14 Cup: Rainey OB 28-21 Virginia
The first final of the day ended up being the highest-scoring, as the two young sides played out a thrilling end-to-end game at Kingspan Stadium.
Virginia's James Lennon broke the deadlock, with Milo Stafford converting to send them into an early lead. Rainey immediately replied through Joseph Cassidy, who touched down under the posts, allowing Peter Coleman to add the extra points with ease.
Cathair McBride then collected an offload to burst clear and score for Rainey, with Coleman accurate again to make it 14-7.
Rainey's outside centre Lorcan McLarnon then scored an inredible solo try as he weaved through the Virginia defence after collecting the ball on the 10-metre line. Coleman's conversion gave them a 21-7 lead at half time.
Matt Lynch then scored as Virginia replied early in the second half, with Stafford nailing the difficult conversion to make it 21-14. A fantastic try from their joint captain Pat Crawley got them right back into the game, and Stafford's kick made it 21-21 heading into the final minutes.
Rainey's Joseph Cassidy suddenly broke the line and raced home to score his second of the day and ensure his side were headed for victory. This time it was McBride who stepped up to hit the conversion and secure the win.
