11-year-old Bangor girl Melissa Rowe has more reason than most to be looking forward to Saturday's second test between the British & Irish Lions and South Africa, as she will be the team's official virtual mascot.
Melissa was lucky enough to be selected as the team's mascot for the crucial clash, when her name was picked out from all those who entered an online competition.
As part of the prize, Melissa will also have the opportunity to meet and greet a Lions player prior to the game, and the young Ulster fan had no doubt about who she wanted to send her best wishes to. Speaking to the County Down Spectator, Melissa said: "I'm really looking forward to it, and being on TV. I hope to meet Iain Henderson, who recently captained the Lions."
Melissa will also be able to draw on previous experience for the big day, as her father Graham explained: "As a family we go to Ulster games quite a lot and Melissa was even given the opportunity to be the virtual mascot for Ulster in the PRO14 Final. Not many people can say they have represented Ulster and the Lions, all from the comfort of their home!"
Congratulations to Melissa from all at Ulster Rugby. We hope you enjoy the occasion and are part of another Lions victory!Congratulations to Melissa Rowe - winner of our virtual mascot competition.
