Ulster has registered wins in its previous three Guinness PRO12 outings, including the last two at home, to catapult themselves to the top of the standings.
They take on Scarlets at Kingspan Stadium on Sunday and Joe Barakat is hoping that home advantage will again prove crucial as the team chases another vital win.
With the Welsh side just a point behind and in fourth place, assistant coach, Barakat, knows the importance of the game for Ulster’s PRO12 ambitions:
“It is huge in terms of where we want to be going. We are at home again and we have to make that count. They are a very good side and have shown that over the course of the season, so we will have to improve greatly on the displays we’ve produced in the last couple of matches.”
Barakat, who specialises in defence and the collision zone, said that aspects of Ulster’s performances in recent weeks have been ‘unacceptable’, despite the fact that they have picked up wins.
“We have not had the patience required and we’re annoyed that we’re leaving bonus points out there. It is something we that we will need to rectify this week going into the Scarlets game.
“We’re winning ugly but if we don’t fix it, things could start to slip outside of our control in terms of the league table. We’ve got some important games to play and big improvements are needed.”
Tickets for the Scarlets game (Sunday, 2.30pm), which is a family-themed fixture with loads of activities for all the family, are still available and can be purchased by clicking the ad below.
