Strabane Academy collect Mowbray Plate title

On Wednesday 20th April Judges Road hosted a Schools competition for the Mowbray Plate. Teams from Lisneal College, Oakgrove College, Castlederg High School and Strabane Academy played a round robin tournament in the fantastic 'summer' sunshine. Run with the help of Ulster Rugby and City of Derry RFC, this local schools tournament was hotly contested by each of the North-West schools.

Both Oakgrove College and Strabane Academy, having narrowly won their opening 2 games, met in a winner-takes-all final game. Strabane had the better of the first half and ran in 3 tries, but in the 2nd half Oakgrove showed great team spirit and fought their way back but eventually ran out of time. The final score was Strabane 20 Oakgrove 12.

Thanks to Shaun Bloomfield from Ulster Rugby and City of Derry U14's coaches for helping with the refereeing and running of this event.

Holy Family PS and Omagh County PS play first friendly game

On Tuesday 12th April 2016 at Campsie Playing Fields in Omagh, Holy Family PS and Omagh County PS took part in a historic friendly match.

This was the first encounter between these teams which proved to be an exciting tussle, with Omagh County PS narrowly beating Holy Family 8-6.

This was Holy Family's first ever rugby match and coach Phil Marshall (Omagh CCRO) was impressed with the skills demonstrated by the young players - hopefully this will be the first of many rugby matches for the school!
