Storm Cobain awarded colours at Ballyclare HS
Congratulations to Storm Cobain from Ballyclare High School, who has been awarded School Honours for the second year in succession in recognition of her rugby achievements.
Storm has been a member of the Ulster U18 Girls' Development Squad for the last two seasons and has a bright future in the game.
Charting her career so far, Storm commented: “I got into rugby by going along to my brother’s training nights at Academy RFC, where dad was an assistant coach. I joined the Malone U18 girls team in 2011, where I played second row and back row. This season I have moved to City of Armagh Rugby Club and I have been playing in the back row.”
She continued: “I have been picked to play for the Ulster U18 team for the past three seasons, playing inter-provincial matches against Munster, Connaught and Leinster, which has been great.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed playing rugby because it has given me a chance to meet new people and develop my skills.
“Throughout the years I have had been supported by my family, as well as all my coaches. I would encourage girls to go to a club near them, for even just one night of training, to give it rugby a try. It can truly change your life.”
Dan Carson appointed as CCRO for Civil Service
Dan Carson has been appointed, in conjunction with Ulster Rugby, as Club Community Rugby Officer for Civil Service RFC.
His primary objective is to recruit U12 players into the club to assist Ulster Rugby in retaining mini players in the sport and expanding to include new players. He already has a presence in local schools and we plan to host a series of U12 and U14 high school tournaments in January and February to boost the recruitment plan.

Earlier this month, Ophir RFC unveiled an Under 12s side against Larne Under 12s. The team was made up of players from five different schools in Newtownabbey and North Belfast and was coordinated by club CCRO, Gavin Robinson.
