ULSTER BANK ALL IRELAND LEAGUE

Division 1A

Ballynahinch (10th) v Galwegians (8th)
The priority for Head Coach Derek Suffern and his players is to retain their position in Division 1A of the All Ireland League this season. This weekend they face Galwegians at Ballymacarn Park seeking their second win in the AIL. The following weekend it is the turn of Ballynahinch to travel to Crowley Park in Galway to play Galwegians in the semi final of the All Ireland Cup. Both teams met in Galway at the end of November with Galwegians running out comfortable 33-16 winners. Galwegians are eleven points ahead of Ballynahinch with a game in hand. In Division 1A the 10th placed team is automatically relegated to Division 1B. The 9th placed team will enter a playoff with the teams finishing 2nd/3rd and 4th in Division 1B. Terenure College are in 9th place - nine points ahead of Ballynahinch. Both these teams meet in Dublin on 30th January. These two AIL games with Galwegians and Terenure College are must win games for Ballynahinch.

Director of Rugby Ronnie Duncan is looking for his team to repeat their second half performance at the Aviva last Saturday when the players played some sensational rugby. He wants the players to start the way they finished against Lansdowne and put in an 80-minute performance. Injury rules out Adam Craig and Richard Reaney with Stuart Morrow unavailable for this weekend. Will Stewart, Jordan Gratton, Aaron Ferris, Justin Rea and Davy Nicholson will come into consideration for selection after impressing for the seconds in their Towns Cup win over Carrickfergus last weekend. The forward pack will be strengthened by the release of Ulster forward Peter Browne.

Ballynahinch v Galwegians
Clontarf v Lansdowne
Cork Constitution v Old Belvedere
UCD v Garryowen
Young Munster v Terenure College

Division 1B

Belfast Harlequins(10th) v Blackrock College (6th)
Quins were in contention at half time against St. Mary's at Templeville Road last Saturday only to concede 28 points in the second half to lose 38-13 against the league leaders. With eight matches remaining the Deramore Park club are 10 points behind 9th place UL Bohemians. Can they pick up their first win of the season to make the playoffs and retain their place in Division 1B? When these two teams met at Stradbrook in November, Quins were denied their first win in the AIL - losing 36-32. With Ballymena playing UL Bohemians there is a real opportunity for Quins to get their season up and running.

Ballymena (2nd) v UL Bohemians (9th)
When these two sides met at Eaton Park in November - Ballymena were made to work hard for their narrow 15-9 win. With the Limerick side fighting to secure their future in this league Ballymena will have to be at their best when they travel to Thomond Park this weekend.

Ballymena Head Coach Andrew Graham makes two changes from his starting line up against Old Wesley with Ross Kane replacing the unavailable Bronson Ross in the front row and John Creighton replacing the injured Dave Shanahan at scrum half. His team for the trip to Limerick this weekend is - front row Michael Lagan, John Andrew and Ross Kane with David Whann and Conor Smyth in the second row. Clive Ross, Willie McKay and Stephen Mulholland make up the back row. John Creighton comes in at scrum half and is partnered by Andrew McGrath who retains his place ahead of Ritchie McMaster. Captain Martin Irwin partners Callum Patterson in the centre with Jonny Rossborough and James Beattie on the wings and Rodger McBurney at full back. The bench is made up of James Taggart, Adam McBurney, James Gallagher, Ritchie McMaster and Glen Baillie. There is a slight doubt over hooker John Andrew who picked up injury training with Ulster. Andrew turned in a man of the match performance against Old Wesley last weekend full of commitment and intensity. James Gallagher came off the bench against Old Wesley to score his first AIL try on Saturday.

Injury continues to rule out Matty Rea, Kieran Joyce, Matthew Harkness and Richard McCrudden. Michael Shiels followed the three-week concussion protocol after picking up a head injury against Ballynahinch in the First Trust Senior Cup Final. He is expected to be available for selection this week.

When these teams met at Eaton park the playing conditions were atrocious with mistakes plentiful. It was a matter of the Ballymena team grinding out a result. The coach is expecting his team to play with the same tempo and drive against UL Bohemians they showed against Old Wesley. The Ballymena defence was strong with the team determined to keep a clean sheet in their 48-0 win. The players were disappointed with their performance in the Senior Cup Final and wanted to make amends in front of their supporters. There was a feeling that Ballymena missed the opportunity to score another 4/5 tries in the match against Old Wesley with handling errors denying the team further points. Last week had been difficult in selection for the coaches and all the players selected at the weekend put in big performances to justify their inclusion on the 1st XV. Jordan Foster who lost his place on the 1sts served notice with two tries in the Ballymena seconds 31-8 Towns Cup win over Ballyclare on Saturday. Such is the strength and depth within the Ballymena 1st XV, squad players are expected to perform each week otherwise there are players waiting to fill their place.

Division 2A

Banbridge (1st) v Cashel RFC (5th)
When these two sides met at Rifle Park in November, Banbridge ran out comfortable 28-5 winners. Cashel have a game in hand and can't afford to lose at home this weekend if they are to remain in the promotion chase. Both Ulster clubs Malone and Queens have travelled to Spafield this season and recorded bonus point wins. Can Banbridge make it three wins for the Ulster sides at this venue.

Banbridge Head Coach Daniel Soper is aware of the challenge Cashel pose to Banbridge's promotion ambitions. Recent matches between both sides have been won by the home side. It is important for the team and the players they focus on one game at a time. Nico Vorster remains on the injured list with both Lee Steenson and Ryan Patterson unavailable for selection.

Queen’s University (6th) v Malone (2nd)
When these two sides met at Gibson Park in November – Queen’s emerged 18 - 7 winners. Queen’s were expected to push on and ended up losing their back to back games against league leaders Banbridge 26-6 and 38-7. They are 15 points behind Banbridge and will have to focus on making the top four and the playoffs. Queen’s Head Coach Bob Young has been plagued by injuries to his playing squad along with commitments to the Ulster A and Ireland under 20 squad during the season. Queen’s have only been able to select their strongest playing squad when they played Malone.

Malone coaches Jarett Truscott and Paddy Armstrong have had to rely on one of the smallest AIL squads in the league. Against all the odds they are only three points behind league leaders, Banbridge. Can they remain in contention for promotion with eight matches remaining?

Young will pushing his players to finish in the top four and secure a playoff place. Player availability and weather conditions will play a part in this match. Banbridge are a good side and should win Division 2A.

His players were very disappointed with their performances against the league leaders. Injuries and unavailability played their part in these defeats. Taking nothing away from Banbridge they deserved their wins and will continue to take points from other teams. Ulster A, Ireland Under 20s and Ireland Sevens commitments have and will continue to impact on the availability of players. Selection for the match with Malone will be finalised tonight with up to ten players inured or unavailable for selection.

Malone Head Coach, Jarrett Truscott is hoping his players can bounce back from their 18-7 home defeat to Queen’s at Gibson Park in November. This league is definitely wide open and for our reduced squad compared to the other teams it will be a matter of training well and starting each game well. The coach believes the team’s next four games against Queen’s, Nenagh, Cashel and Thomond will be season defining for them. He will face player unavailability issues in the coming weeks which puts more pressure on his smaller squad. He welcomes back Chris Griffiths and Michael Cartmill from injury with both Dave Cave and Mark O'Connor returning in the next two weeks.

Division 2B

Armagh (5th) v Sunday's Well (4th)
When these two sides met at Irish Independent Park in November Armagh were unfortunate to lose 19-15. Three points separate these two sides as they both look to finish in the top four and make the playoffs.

Armagh Head Coach Alex McCloy makes three changes to the starting XV selected to play against Seapoint last Saturday in a game that was postponed for a second weekend. All three changes are in the backs with Matthew Hooks moving from centre to full back to replace Robbie Faloon with John Faloon and Matthew Steenson reunited in the centre. Peter Elliott and Stuart Lester are added to the bench replacements. The team is - front row Simon Carlisle, Andrew Smyth and Richard Morton. Stephen Morton and Joshua McKinley are in the second row with Daryl Morton, James Hanna and Neil Faloon in the back row. Matthew Wright and Jonathan continue at scrumhalf and 10 with John Faloon and Matthew Steenson in the centre. The threequarters include wingers Andy Willis and Josh Morton with Matthew Hooks at full back. The replacements bench includes Philip Matthews, David Swann, Peter Elliott, Stuart Lester and Harry Doyle.

City of Derry (1st) v Seapoint (10th)
Head Coach Terry McMaster will not underestimate his opposition on Saturday. When these two sides met at Kilbogget Park in November - City of Derry had to dig deep to win 20-18.

The coach has been pleased with his new signings including Omagh pair Neil Brown and Ali Beckett. One player who has stood out, since he returned to City of Derry has been captain John Burns who displays real leadership on the pitch and leads by example from the back row along with the hard working Steven Dickey. Half backs Andrew Semple and Richard McCarter are key players in the back division. Simon Logue who missed last season through injury has returned to full fitness and made a big impact this season. There was disappointment when prop Chris Shields picked up a cruciate injury in training that has ruled him out for the season. In stepped Ulster Under 20 prop Rory Squires who along with the experienced Sam Duffy have become the rock in the City of Derry front row. Front row replacement Ross Harkin showed his talent in the Rainey match coming on after ten minutes to replace the injured Rory Squires. What the playing squad have this season is strength in depth with players challenging 1st XV players for a starting place. Strength and Conditioning coach Joe Gallanagh has the task to keep the players fresh with nine matches remaining in their league programme.

Dungannon (6th) v Bective Rangers(8th)
The Stevenson Park side secured their first bonus point win of the season at Donnybrook in November when they defeated Bective Rangers 33- 27. Head Coach Andy Hughes will be hoping his players can repeat their performance at Stevenson Park this weekend. Only four points separate the teams in 6th and 9th place in this league with every point vital to avoid finishing in the bottom two places.

Dungannon Head Coach Andy Hughes’ priority this season is to secure Dungannon's position in Division 2B for next season. January will be a critical month for the team as they play three of the sides that around them in the middle of the table. If these fixtures go well the team could have an outside chance of finishing in the top four. If that doesn't happen we will be involved in a relegation dog fight over the final two months of the season. There is so little between most sides in the league that no one can afford to take their eye off the ball. The team and the players need to hit the ground running after the Christmas period and hopefully gather some momentum along with keeping players fit. Captain James McMahon is the only player unavailable this weekend.

Rainey OB (7th) v Highfield (2nd)
The Magherfelt side upset the form book when they defeated Sunday's Well at Hatrick Park 18-13 in November. Highfield are six points behind league leaders City of Derry and will be looking to keep pace with the North West side.

Head Coach John Andrews is hoping his players can push for a top four finish in the second half of the season. Unfortunately, the team has picked up a few injuries that will rule out Ronan McCusker, Darren Corrigan, Josh McIlroy and Conal Murphy for the trip to Cork this weekend.

POWERADE TOWNS CUP: ROUND ONE

Randalstown v Clogher Valley
The Nelisbrook Pitch fell foul to the weather last Saturday and the postponement of this match. Both teams will hope the weather improves this weekend to permit the game to be played. Home coach Gary Longwell is well aware that Clogher Valley have been one of the stand out junior sides in Ulster rugby over the past decade so it will be a real challenge for his players to test themselves against a top team. He was really happy with his team’s performance in their narrow 11-5 defeat away to league leaders Carrick before Xmas. His team looked back to the form they showed in the early part of the season as they played with a lot of energy and intensity.

Clogher coaches Glen Kyle and Davy Black welcome back Captain David Sharkey this weekend. Richard Primrose and Philip Hopper take their place in the front row alongside hooker Kyle Cobane. Both Michael Treanor and Eugene McKenna are reunited in the second row with Malcolm Keyes joining Sharkey and Ryan Wilson in the back row. Neil Trotter continues at scrum half with Aaron Best moving out to outhalf to replace the injured Philip Holme. David Speers and Allister Trenier are in the centre with the injured Clive Donaldson joining Andy Breen on the wings with Fleming Agnew at full back. The experienced Phillip Moore and BJ Wilson take their place on the bench. Clogher have won the Towns Cup three times in the last five seasons and were beaten finalists last season. The team is virtually at full strength for the first time in several weeks. Should be a good contest between two good rugby teams.

KUKRI QUALIFYING LEAGUE ONE

Ballyclare (4th) v Instonians (2nd)
Head Coach Mike McKeever and his team came up against a very strong Ballymena 2s team in the 1st round of the Towns Cup at Eaton Park last Saturday - losing 31-8. The focus for the team is to achieve a top four finish and qualification for the AIL Junior Cup next season. Their task does not get any easier with the visit of the league champions Instonians to the Cloughan on Saturday. The two teams have already met twice in the league and Junior Cup at Shaws Bridge with Instonians winning both games 21-7 and 22-10.

Instonians 1st XV have enjoyed a three week break after playing Bangor in the Junior Cup Final and securing a 30-20 win over Clogher Valley to reach the Final of the Ulster Bank AIL Junior Cup. Head Coach William Leacock and his assistants Mark McDowell and Keith Crossan face two difficult league games in the coming weeks with a trip to Ballyclare on Saturday and the visit of current Q1 league leaders, Bangor to Shaws Bridge next weekend. Instonians are 12 points behind Bangor and will need to pick up maximum points from these two games if they are to retain their league title this season.

Bangor (1st) v Omagh (6th)
The North Down league leaders played their 20th match of the season against Lisburn last Saturday winning 77-7 and scoring thirteen tries in the process. Their key objective this season is to win the league. They sit top of Q1 with a 12-point lead on current league champions Instonians who have two games in hand. Both these two sides will meet at Shaws Bridge Saturday week in a game that will go a long way to deciding the destiny of this year’s title. 1st XV Manager Ricky Armstrong is confident the club have the playing squad to secure the title this season. He was doing some analysis on the performances of his players. Every player who has played more than six games on the 1st XV this season has scored a try. Number 8 Curtis Stewart leads the way with 14 tries with wingers Mark Widdowson and Davy Charles scoring 12 tries each. Scrum half Jason Guthrie has nine tries followed by Rob Gamble, David Bradford and Jason Morgan on seven with Captain Jamie Clegg, Andrew Jackson and Ross McCloskey on five. He knows the team have attacking threats all over the pitch and is hoping this unsavory weather relents so the team can get back to playing the attractive rugby they played in the first quarter of the season.

Injuries continue to rule out centre Desi Fusco for another 2/3 weeks with influential number 8 Curtis Stewart hoping to return in six weeks after dislocating his shoulder.

Bangor are not expected to make many changes for the visit of Omagh this Saturday to Upritchard Park. Second row Michael Ferguson will come back into the squad along with Rob Gamble and Andrew Jackson who missed last week's game with Lisburn through illness. The club are disappointed to lose the services of their tight head prop Jake Harrison who went out to play rugby in NZ and found love and has decided to live and play rugby in NZ. Bangor RFC acknowledge the contribution he has made to the 1st XV squad in recent seasons. We wish him well.

When these two sides met at the Thomas Mellon playing fields four weeks ago Bangor won 20 points to 8.

Omagh Head Coach Philip Marshall has a few players missing this weekend due to injury. They include second row Jamie Sproule, fullback David Ward, outhalf Lee Murphy, number 8 Andrew Ferguson, prop Gary Sherard and back row forward Richard Harper. He has had to make several positional changes with 2nd XV scrumhalf Adam Beatty coming in along with regular scrumhalf Stewart McCain moving to outhalf. Scott Elliott fills in at fullback with James Catterson moving into the second row and Stewart Allen coming into the back row. The coach feels his team have nothing to lose in this game. Bangor will be the big favourites with all the pressure on them. He is looking forward to seeing his players getting some game time after only playing one match in December.

Cooke (8th) v CIYMS (10th)
When these two sides met at Belmont four weeks ago Cooke ran out comfortable 20-0 winners. Cooke followed up this performance with a 28-27 win over Dromore. CIYMS have went on to lose must-win games against both Ards and Omagh. The East Belfast team remain without a win in the league and now find themselves seven points behind 9th place Ards and 12 points behind 8th place Cooke. A lot at stake for both sides in this match.

Cooke Head Coach Colin Atkinson is aware that his team need to continue picking up league points. His attitude is to take it one game at a time. If his team can avoid injuries, it will have a big bearing on where they finish in the league. For this weekend the coach will be missing second row Andrew Quigley who is replaced by Jamie McClelland. Scrumhalf Ryan Flavelle is also unavailable and is replaced by Matthew Elliott. Philip Cartmill returns to Captain the side. Like every other rugby coach he is hoping the rain stays away so his players can get back to playing rugby.

CIYMS Head Coach Gareth Fry is still optimistic his side can remain in Q1. He feels the team should have won 4/5 of their last five league games. They are just not getting the bounce of the ball on a couple of occasions. Realistically his team need to find 4/5 wins from their nine remaining league matches. He is confident if he can get all his playing personnel back and fit they will have a very good chance.

Portadown (5th) v Dromore (7th)
So much at stake in this match for both teams with a top four finish a realistic goal for both. When these two teams met at Barben Hill four weeks ago Dromore ran out 18-7 winners. They went on to narrowly lose 28-27 at Cooke and held on to defeat Ards 12-6 after Xmas. Portadown have assembled one of their strongest playing squads in recent seasons with Head Coach Richard Hedley confident his team can finish in the top four. He is also looking to his players to pick up some silverware this season. The players put in a solid performance at Limavady in the Towns Cup last Saturday to win 29-3 with number 8 Gareth McCoy scoring three tries. For the match at Chambers Park on Saturday the coach is looking for his players to build on their performance at Limavady. He was particularly pleased with their defensive work. Gary Hall who was a late withdrawal for the game at Limavady returns in the back row this weekend. Prop Mark Henderson is unavailable and is replaced by Aaron Winter on the bench.

Dromore Head Coach Jonny Cullen is looking forward to getting his players back on the pitch after their win over Ards. It is a crucial time for his team and players with one or two wins pushing his team into the top four. Lose a couple of games and you can slip back into the bottom half. He retains the team from the win over Ards with the experienced Scott Nelson returning from injury.

KUKRI QUALIFYING LEAGUE TWO

Academy (7th) v Coleraine (2nd)
When these two teams met at Rugby Avenue in November - Coleraine ran out convincing winners by 40-7 with their South African outhalf Bokkie Carstens scoring three of his teams five tries. Coleraine have gone on to win three of their last four league games with their only defeat coming at Carrickfergus 21-6. Since that defeat they have gone on to take a maximum 15 points from their last three games scoring 17 tries along the way. They sit level with league leaders Carrickfergus on 35 points having played one game more. Academy will be no pushover as they have bounced back from that defeat to win their league matches against both Enniskillen and Randalstown.

Coleraine Head Coach Richard Boyd is looking forward to the second half of the season. Q2 is a very competitive league and every weekend draws up a new challenge. Carrick are the team to beat and it is important Coleraine keep applying the pressure and stay in touch over the next few months. He is pleased with the squad development and the style of rugby the team is playing and the positive attitude of the players.

The match on Saturday against Academy will be difficult. Academy are a very physical side with arguably the best scrummaging pack in the league. In recent weeks they have picked up some excellent form against some very tough opposition. It is all about Coleraine being able to match Academy at the set piece and give the team a platform to gain a valuable win away from home. The weather conditions and the pitch will make his teams task more difficult but it is a task his team need to pass. He is taking the same team that defeated Ballymoney 42-3 on Boxing Day with the coaches anxious to maintain the momentum that has seen the team take bonus point wins over Donaghadee, Lisburn and Ballymoney. The team continue to improve and it is important the players do the basics well and maintain their discipline if they want to compete.

Ballymoney (8th) v Donaghadee (6th)
Another game that will be keenly contested at Kilraughts Road on Saturday. When these two sides last met at Donaldson Park it was the Dee side who persevered, to win a tight match 6-3. With so much at stake for both sides will we see another low scoring game?

Ballymoney Head Coach James Carson is aware the result of this match is massive for both teams. He has a few injuries and won't finalise his starting lineup until training tonight. The players are working hard at training and he is looking for them to bring their A game on Saturday. The game in Donaghadee was a tough match but one the coach felt his Ballymoney team should have won. The players were disappointed with their performance in the 42-3 Xmas defeat at Coleraine and realise they need to step up and right a few wrongs from that match.

Donaghadee Rugby Cub took the decision after the clubs heavy 43-8 defeat at Coleraine in December to appoint John West as their new Head Coach to replace Graham Cloke. His impact was immediate as the team defeated Enniskillen 33-7 in a stirring five try victory at Donaldson Park. The new Head Coach will be assisted By Nigel Barker and John Blewitt with Paddy McGratton continuing as Strength and Conditioning coach. Nigel Barker was appointed 1st XV Captain this season and was forced to retire from playing due to repetitive concussion injuries.

John West never played rugby but became involved in the game through his son Matthew playing at Regent House. With the assistance of Peter Lowry at Regent House, John's willingness to help out led to him getting involved in coaching at the school. He is full of praise for the help and guidance he received from Peter Lowry, Eric Sinnamon, Jimmy McCoy, Colin McLean and Mervyn Tweed in developing his coaching skills at the Regent. Three seasons ago he got involved with Donaghadee Rugby Club coaching the clubs second XV. His ability was quickly recognised as he guided the team to promotion and a semi final in the Cup. Working alongside Paul McKenzie, John regarded himself as a good listener and a fast learner. Something that was quickly identified by Peter Lowry at Regent as John went on to complete his Level One coaching badge and take over the coaching of the Schools Medallion team. John can't hide his passion and commitment for the game and has plans to return Donaghadee to Q1.

Last August he attended his Level 4 Assistant coaching course alongside former Munster and Ireland Hooker Jerry Flannery. Six years ago when John started out coaching he never expected to be sitting alongside Jerry Flannery on a coaching course!

He is keen to point out that Senior players at Donaghadee including Billy Allen, Chris Good, Paul Blewitt and Gareth Gordon have been supportive of his appointment. During his time at the club John has been responsible for strengthening the clubs playing ties with Regent House. His greatest moment in rugby was being told on the Thursday night before the Enniskillen game that he was taking over as the clubs Head Coach. His impact has been significant with almost thirty players attending training on Tuesday night. Many in the rugby world may be surprised by his appointment but West has proved you do not have to have played rugby to become a coach. His target is to return Donaghadee to where they were four years ago when they won the Junior Cup and competed in the All Ireland Junior Cup.

Having the experienced John Blewitt alongside him has been invaluable during his time at Donaghadee. The coach will take it one game at a time. He wants to create a team where winning becomes a habit. If the win over Enniskillen is anything to go by, opponents in the coming weeks and months will have every reason to fear playing Donaghadee. We wish you well on your appointment John!

Carrickfergus (1st) v Lisburn (9th)
Despite losing their Towns Cup 1st round match against a very strong Ballynahinch second XV at Ballymacarn Park 34-17 Head Coach Neil Hanna was pleased with the performance of his players against a strong, well drilled Ballynahinch team with a very sharp back line.

Once again his forwards matched the Hinch forwards and demonstrated they fear nobody. The coach felt that the pace and accuracy which Hinch played with was the difference between the two sides last weekend. It was a much faster game than what his players are used to playing in Qualifying Two and the difference told in the end. That said, the coach couldn't be prouder of his players.

He will be looking for a response from them on Saturday against a Lisburn team who made his team work hard for their 20-17 win at Blaris in November. Lisburn continue to improve week on week and his team will need to be totally focused for the return fixture. With all the club’s teams doing well this season, several players on the second XV have been putting their hands up for a starting place on the 1st XV with selection decisions becoming harder each week. David McKeen came into the side a few weeks back after an injury gave him the opportunity. He was the coach’s selection for man of the match at Ballynahinch. As a coach all you can ask the players to do is keep putting in the hard work and take your chances when they come.

Lisburn Head Coach Neil Hinds will be looking to end his team’s losing run of four defeats against Bangor, Enniskillen, Coleraine and Ballymoney. His task will not get any easier when they travel to the Tom Simms Memorial Grounds on Saturday. Carrick will be seeking maximum points with Coleraine in hot pursuit.

1st XV Manager Michael Knowles agrees the fixtures have not been kind to Lisburn having been drawn against Instonians and Bangor in the Cups and sent to Enniskillen on Boxing Day. There is relief the festive period is behind them as upwards of 15 players were unavailable through injury, illness and family commitments for the trips to Enniskillen and Bangor. Selection for the match at Carrickfergus will be finalised tonight with a couple of players facing late fitness tests. Definitely out for this weekend are second rows Jonny Davis and Alan Hughes along with back row forwards Jake Bebington and Simon Gilmore along with out half Falemaka Vave. Injuries have hit the team hard this season with opportunities for players to step up and play on the 1st XV. Carrick are the team to beat in the league and Lisburn were unlucky not to beat them at Blaris. Can Lisburn repeat their performance?

Larne (3rd) v Enniskillen (4th)
When these two teams met at Mullaghmeen in November Enniskillen ran out 46-7 winners. Skins were expected to push on and maintain their promotion ambitions. Defeats to Donaghadee and Academy have seriously dented their ambitions. Larne have held on to third place in Q2 as they continue to impress this season.

Larne Head Coach Ryan Milligan is enjoying the opportunity of seeing his team being in the promotion mix. His players are just taking it one game at a time and are striving to stay there and see where it takes them. This season was all about consolidation in Q2 and anything else was a bonus. For the game with Enniskillen the coach welcomes back Aaron McBride in the back line with injury ruling out Scott Montgomery, Rhys Thomas and Craig Gibson. Both his centres Ian McIheron and Jonny Halls face late fitness tests on tonight.

Enniskillen Head Coach Norman Richmond faces a late fitness test on influential back row forward Jamie Johnston with injury ruling out one of his props from the win over Rainey OB seconds in the Towns Cup. Otherwise he has a full squad at his disposal for the trip to Larne. The coach was disappointed by the team’s league defeats away to Donaghadee and Academy. Wins over Lisburn and Rainey have boosted morale. The Glynn is never an easy place to go to and his players are expecting a battle on Saturday with a second place finish in the league a target for the team. Enniskillen face matches against Larne and Randalstown away and Grosvenor away that will decide the team’s playoff ambitions. The coach expects a few twists and turns in Q2 before the league programme is completed. There are wins and points out there and there will be defeats across the top half of this league with Grosvenor, Lisburn and Ballymoney looking for vital points to lift themselves out of the relegation zone.
