Cregagh children experience 'new Ravenhill' for first time

A number of local children attended a rugby match for the first time recently as part of an initiative between Ulster Rugby and the Cregagh Community Centre.

Throughout the summer, Ulster Rugby’s Community Rugby Coach Neill Alcorn has been delivering a coaching programme to children from the Community Centre.

To complete the programme, some of the participants then had the chance attend a ‘Rules of the Game’ workshop at Malone RFC before going on Ravenhill to watch Ulster’s pre-season friendly win over Leinster, the first game to be played in the revamped stadium. Ian Porter’s late winning try ensured it was a memorable night for all in attendance.

The initiative has been extremely well received by all involved and it is hoped similar programmes will be organised in the near future.

This project has been made possible due to the generous support of the NI Executive and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure through the ‘Promoting Equality, Tackling Poverty and Social Exclusion through Sport’ programme.
