Ulster Rugby Head Coach, Dan McFarland, has a message for clubs and schools across the province ahead of restrictions on rugby activity being eased.
On the news that an indicative date has been set by the NI Executive for a return to some sporting activity in Northern Ireland, Dan McFarland had this message for NI clubs, as they plan for April, as well as clubs in the Republic of Ireland that are also working towards being #ReadyForRugby, in-line with the new programme launched by the IRFU earlier this week.
“It’s brilliant news that we’ve had in the last week or so that rugby is coming back,” McFarland said.
“I’d just like to thank everybody - all the volunteers out there and all the coaches out there - for the work that you are doing to get back the rugby for the young guys.
“I think it’s really important that when the kids are coming back in and starting to enjoy their rugby again that we appreciate that they’re re-connecting.
“We all know everybody who’s got families understands that this time has been really difficult. Coming back in and being in that social environment is really important.
“The second thing is, they’ve got to have fun; we all know that. We’ve got to focus on making sure the fun is in the training, and focus on the basic things like skills.
“All of that sits alongside the guidance you’ve got to follow, but the excitement and the enjoyment of getting back in together is really going to drive you.
“Again, I appreciate the work you guys have been doing. Thank you.”
