A round-up of the latest Danske Bank Schools’ rugby action, by Ulster Schools’ PRO Barney McGonigle:

There were recently postponed and drawn Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ competition games played during the week, as well as some senior friendlies, in the lead up to one Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Bowl Round of Sixteen replay, Medallion Shield, Plate, Bowl and Trophy games, 2ndXV Cup, Plate and Trophy games, Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdXV Cup and Plate games and one 1stXV friendly game played on Saturday 3 February.

### Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Bowl

Cambridge House Grammar School hosted Bangor Grammar School in the replay of their previously drawn Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Bowl Round of Sixteen game.

This game was another closely contested affair with the Cambridge House Grammar School team emerging as 15-12 winners.

Justin Mark and Josh Dobbin each scored one try for the Cambridge House Grammar School team with Paddy Roberts adding one conversion, as well as one successful penalty kick.

Rory Fulton and Noah Courtney Gardener scored the Bangor Grammar School tries with Adam Bickerstaff adding one successful conversion.

### Danske Bank Ulster School s’ 2ndXV Competitions

On Monday 29 January, Methodist College 2ndXV played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School 2ndXV in their previously postponed 2ndXV Cup quarter-final game.

The Methodist College 2ndXV won this game by 35-19 and will now play away to Campbell College in the semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndXV Cup.

In their twice postponed 2ndXV Trophy quarter-final game Belfast High School 2ndXV played Foyle  College 2ndXV

Foyle College won this game by 17-12 and will now travel to play Coleraine Grammar School 2ndXV in the semi-final of the 2ndXV Trophy.

On Wednesday 31 January, Campbell College 2ndXV played Wallace High School 2ndXV in their unavoidably delayed 2ndXV Cup quarter-final game.

Campbell College won the game by 31-19.

On Wednesday 31 January, in the first semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndXV Trophy, Bangor Academy 1stXV hosted Down High School 2ndXV under the floodlights at Uprichard Park, home of Bangor RFC.

Bangor Academy 1stXV won the game by 38-5.

Both teams, their coaches and travelling supporters, would like to thank Bangor RFC for the provision of facilities and hosting the game.

On Friday 2 February, Rainey Endowed School 2ndXV hosted Royal School Armagh in their previously postponed 2ndXV Plate quarter-final game.

At the end of an absorbing encounter, it was Rainey that emerged as 23-20 winners.

On Saturday 3 February, one of the semi-finals of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndXV Cup took place.

Royal Belfast Academical Institution played Belfast Royal Academy and won the game by 40-14.

The second semi-final of the Danske Bank 2ndXV Cup game, featuring the Campbell College and the Methodist College has had to have been rescheduled.

In the semi-finals of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndXV Plate, Ballymena Academy played Banbridge Academy and won by 51-5.

Ballymena Academy will now play the winners of the Rainey Endowed School v Royal School Dungannon in the final.

In the second semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndXV Trophy, Coleraine Grammar School played Foyle College and won the closely contested game by 13-10.

Coleraine Grammar School 2ndXV will now play Bangor Academy 1stXV in the final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndXV Plate.

### Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdXV Competitions

In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdXV Cup quarter-final replay, Wallace High School hosted Ballymena Academy and won this close encounter by 19-17.

On Tuesday 30 January, Belfast Royal Academy 3rdXV played Royal School Armagh 3rdXV in their postponed 3rdXV Cup quarter-final game.

Belfast Royal Academy won this game by 22-0.

On Wednesday 31 January, in the quarter-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdXV Cup, Royal Belfast Academical Institution 4thXV played Royal Belfast Academical Institution 3rdXV.

Royal Belfast Academical Institution 3rdXV won this game by 17-5.

Meanwhile, in the quarter-final of the 3rdXV Plate, Ballyclare High School 3rdXV played Royal Belfast Academical Institution 5thXV and won the game by 22-5.

On Friday 2 February, Campbell College 3rdXV played Our Lady and St Patrick’s College, Knock in the quarter-final of the 3rdXV Cup.

Campbell College team won this game by 40-0.

On Saturday 3 February, in the 3rdXV Plate quarter-final game, Methodist College 3rdXV played Campbell College 4thXV and recorded a 38-7 victory.

In the 3rdXV Plate quarter-final replay, Methodist College 4thXV defeated Rainey Endowed School 3rdXV by 22-12.

The draws for the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdXV Cup and 3rdXV Plate semi-finals were made in Omagh Academy.

  • Campbell College 3rdXV v Belfast Royal Academy 3rdXV

Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdXV Plate Semi-Finals

  • Methodist College 3rdXV v Methodist College 4thXV.
  • Methodist College 5thXV v Ballyclare High School 3rdXV

These semi-finals MUST be played on/before Saturday 10 February.

### Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Competitions

In the previously postponed Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Plate quarter-final game, Dromore High School hosted Belfast High School in a game the Belfast High School team won by 19-14.

Belfast High School will now play Lurgan College in the semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy.

On Tuesday afternoon, Rainey Endowed School hosted Omagh Academy in the replay of their drawn Medallion Bowl quarter-final game.

Rainey Endowed School won this replay by 20-12 and will now play Friends’ School Lisburn in the semi-final.

On Thursday 1 February, in the first of the Medallion Trophy semi-finals, Banbridge Academy hosted Bangor Academy and recorded a 43-14 victory.

On Saturday 3 February, the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield and Plate quarter-finals took place.

Sullivan Upper School played Regent House School and won the game by 7-0.

Royal Belfast Academical Institution played Campbell College and won an enthralling encounter by 15-13.

Coleraine Grammar School played Belfast Royal Academy and recorded a 25-15 victory.

Dalriada School played Foyle College and won the game by 13-5.

In the Medallion Plate quarter-finals, Methodist College played Royal School Armagh and won the game by 31-5.

Royal School Dungannon was scheduled to have hosted Antrim Grammar School but the game was rescheduled.

Ballyclare High School played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School and recorded a 24-12 victory.

Ballymena Academy played Wallace High School and recorded a 36-12 victory.

Following the results of these Medallion Shield and Medallion Plate quarter-final games came through, the draws for the semi-finals were released.

Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield Semi-Finals

  • Royal Belfast Academical Institution v Coleraine Grammar School
  • Dalriada School v Sullivan Upper School

These games will be played at neutral venues on Saturday 24 February. The winners of the first game listed will have use of the Ulster Home Changing Rooms in Kingspan Stadium for the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield Final on Tuesday 5 March.

Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Plate Semi-Finals

  • Methodist College v Ballyclare High School
  • Ballymena Academy v Royal School Dungannon/Antrim Grammar School

These games will be played at the home venue of the first teams listed and MUST be played on/before Saturday 24 February.

In the semi-finals of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools Medallion Bowl, Portadown College played Bangor Grammar School and won the game by 29-0.

Rainey Endowed School was scheduled to have played Friends’ School Lisburn in the second semi-final, but the game has been rescheduled.

In the semi-finals of the Medallion Trophy, Belfast High School was scheduled to have played Lurgan College, but the game has been rescheduled.

### Ulster Clubs’ U17 and U18 Teams Matches

On Monday evening at the Meadowbank Stadium in Magherafelt, Regent House School had teams playing against the Ulster Clubs’ U17 and U18 teams.

First up was the Regent House School 3rdXV who played Ulster Clubs’ U17s in a game the Ulster Clubs’ team won by 34-7.

Regent House School’s points were all scored by Joel Davison.

Ulster Clubs’ U17 scored six tries through Zachary Maguire, Coleraine RFC, who ran in for two, and Thomas Skelly, Banbridge RFC, Lochlan Gaynor, Virginia RFC, Sam Craig, Ballymena RFC and Jake Swindle, Clogher Valley RFC, each of whom touched down for one try apiece. Sam Craig added the extras to two of the tries.

Regent House School 2ndXV played Ulster Clubs’ U18s in a closely contested game the Ulster Clubs’ team won by 14-12.

Regent House School’s points came through one try each from Isaac Lowe and James Ward with one successful conversion from Josh Colville.

Lachlan Maguire, Cavan RFC, and Ardan Goldridge, Rainey RFC, scored the Ulster Clubs’ U18 tries with Lachlan adding two successful conversion kicks.

### Friendlies

There was one 1stXV friendly game played on Saturday 3 February when Bangor Grammar School hosted Lurgan College.

Bangor Grammar School won the game by 45-5 with tries from Jack McGreevy, Shay Ritchie, Frazer Fulton, Noah Courtney Gardner, Callum Moore, Ryan Gowdy and Alex Simpson. Adam Bickerstaff was successful with four conversions with Patrick McClure adding a fifth.

Lurgan College displayed great commitment throughout the game and got some reward for their endeavours when Daniel Wilson touched down for an unconverted try.
