On Monday 13th December the remaining games in the 2nd Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rd XV Cup took place.
Belfast Royal Academy 3rd XV played Sullivan Upper School 3rd XV in a game the Belfast Royal Academy team won by 27-0.
Coleraine Grammar School 3rd XV played Carndonagh Community School 1st XV and, following an excellent game of schoolboy rugby, it was the Coleraine Grammar School team that emerged eventually as 34-15 winners.
Once the results of these Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rd XV Cup 2nd Round games were known the draws for the 3rd Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rd XV Cup and 1st Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rd XV Plate took place.

Campbell College Belfast vs Royal School Armagh 2nd XV
On Tuesday 14th December Campbell College, Belfast played Royal School, Armagh in their 3rd Round game in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2nd XV Cup. The Campbell College, Belfast team won this encounter by 29-0.
On Wednesday 15th December four more Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2nd XV Cup 3rd Round games took place.
Down HS vs Ballyclare High School 2nd XV
Down High School played Ballyclare High School and won the game by 26-21.
Friends’ School, Lisburn played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School in a game the Enniskillen Royal Grammar School team won by 26-5.
Rainey Endowed vs Ballymena Academy 2nd XV
Rainey Endowed School played Ballymena Academy in a game that resulted in a 17-17 draw. This game will be replayed on Saturday 18th December.
Wallace HS vs Coleraine GS 2nd XV
Wallace High School hosted Coleraine Grammar School in a closely contested game the Wallace High School team won by 34-32.
Omagh Academy vs Enniskillen Royal GS 1st XV
On the same afternoon Omagh Academy 1st XV hosted Enniskillen Royal Grammar School 1st XV at the Campsie Playing Fields.
Despite being 7-3 behind at the break the Omagh Academy team went on to record a morale boosting 22-7 victory at the end of the game.
The Omagh Academy team took an early 3-0 lead through an Andrew Johnston penalty.
A Tadhg Hambly try and conversion then gave the Enniskillen RGS team a 7-3 lead and they held this lead until the interval.
The Omagh Academy team stepped their performance up in the course of the second half. An impressive team performance paved the way for Ben Henry to touch down for a hat trick of tries in the course of the second period of play. Two Andrew Johnston conversions secured the 22-7 win for the Omagh Academy team.
Bangor Grammar vs King's Hospital School 1st XV
Bangor Grammar School hosted King’s Hospital School from Dublin in a game the King’s Hospital School team won by 22-5.
Patrick Gould scored the Bangor Grammar School try which was converted by Callum Campbell.
The King’s Hospital team had the Connacht U19 out half, Harry West, to thank for their win. This very talented young player, who has come to the attention of the management team of the Irish U19/U20 Development squad, scored two tries and added two conversions as well as one penalty. Ewan Mahood added an unconverted try to complete the scoring for the King’s Hospital School team.
Cambridge House GS vs Foyle College 1st XV
Cambridge House Grammar School played Foyle and Londonderry College in a game the dominant Foyle College team won by 39-0.
The Foyle College team scored seven tries through James McKillop, who touched down twice, Chris Boyd, Andrew Chambers, Dara Herron, Josh Milling and Auryn Hunter. Two Adam Killeen conversions secured the 39-0 victory for the Foyle and Londonderry College team.
Methodist College vs Dalriada 2nd XV
On Thursday 16th December Methodist College, Belfast played Dalriada School in their 3rd Round Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2nd XV Cup game. The Methodist College, Belfast team won this game by 40-0.
Coleraine GS vs Ballyclare High 1st XV
On Friday 17th December Coleraine Grammar School entertained Ballyclare High School in a 1st XV friendly game.
This was a very closely contested game with little separating the teams. The Coleraine Grammar School team won the game by 15-13 with the trusty boot of Rory Telfer kicking all their points with five successful penalty shots.
The Ballyclare High School team scored their points through a try from Bryn McCallan and two penalties, as well as one conversion, from Alex Darragh.
Rainey Endowed vs Sullivan Upper 1st XV
Rainey Endowed School played Sullivan Upper School and made the Sullivan Upper team work hard for their 17-10 win.
The Rainey Endowed School team scored two unconverted tries through Adam Montgomery and Harry Currie.
The Sullivan Upper School points came through tries from Rory Carson, who touched down twice, and Matthew Latimer. Harry McKeown was successful with one conversion.
Royal School Dungannon vs Down High School 1st XV
Royal School, Dungannon played Down High School and got back to winning ways with a hard fought 14-12 victory.
The Royal School, Dungannon team scored two tries through their ever-impressive prop forward, Ryan Evans, and the hard-working Matthew Burrows. Jacob Clarke added the extras to both tries.
The Down High School team scored tries through Joe Dooley and Ethan Fitzsimmons with Ross Graham adding one conversion.
On Saturday 18th December the remaining Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2nd XV Cup 3rd Round games took place.
Ballymena Academy vs Rainey Endowed 2nd XV Re-play
Ballymena Academy and Rainey Endowed School took part in the replay of their recently drawn Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2nd XV Cup 3rd Round game. The Ballymena Academy team won this replay game by 66-7.
Omagh Academy vs Belfast Royal Academy 2nd XV
Omagh Academy played Belfast Royal Academy in a game the Belfast Royal Academy team won by 33-17.
RBAI vs Sullivan Upper 2nd XV
Royal Belfast Academical Institution played Sullivan Upper School and won the game by 24-19.
Three 1st XV friendly games took place on Saturday 18th December.
Larne GS vs Banbridge Academy 1st XV
Larne Grammar School played Banbridge Academy in a game the Banbridge Academy team won by 40-12.
The visitors had built up a 28-0 lead by the break with tries from Ronan Quinn, Daniel Hutchinson, Conor Magee and Joel Good. Ryan Matthews was successful with all four conversions.
The Larne Grammar School team responded very positively during the second half. Their fight back was led by their very impressive No 8, Scott Alexander, whose performance paved the way for tries from Elliott Bareham and Josh Walker. One Robin Wynn conversion reduced the arrears to 28-12.
However, the Banbridge Academy team finished with a flurry of tries. Good work from their hard-working No 8, Ollie Norris, ensured that Matthew Daly touched down for a try which went unconverted. Then Ryan Matthews added the conversion to his own try to leave the final score reading Larne Grammar School 12 Banbridge Academy 40-0.
Methodist College vs Terenure College 1st XV
Methodist College, Belfast played Terenure College, Dublin and won the game by 38-7.
The Methody team scored six tries through Peter O’Hagan, Jonny O’Kane, Finn McAdam, Jacob Kelly, Ryan Kidd and Barry White. Ben Wilson was successful with four of his conversion kicks.
Wallace HS vs RBAI 1st XV
Wallace High School hosted Royal Belfast Academical Institution in a game the Belfast Inst team won by 24-13.
The Wallace High School team had built up a 13-7 lead by the break with two unconverted tries from Cameron Doak and a penalty from Charlie Beattie.
The Royal Belfast Academical Institution points in the first half came from a Jamie Beattie try which was converted by Adam Hawthorne.
The visitors controlled most of the game in the second half. They scored three second half tries through Jamie Beattie, Bryn Ward and Rory Ellerby. One further Adam Hawthorne conversion secured the 24-13 victory for the Royal Belfast Academical Institution team.
