This province-wide initiative is designed specifically for females aged 16 and over—whether they are already deeply embedded in club life as committee members and coaches, or are parents and supporters looking to take their first step into a formal role.
Between March 2026 and May 2027, the programme will offer participants the chance to "Choose Their Path" through three distinct strands. Those interested in Coaching can work toward recognised Ulster Rugby qualifications for Children, Youth, and Senior levels. The Refereeing pathway provides a supported journey through online learning and practical experience at Blitz events. Meanwhile, the Leadership strand, delivered by Jo Hopkins Consulting, focuses on building the personal development, communication, and decision-making skills necessary to empower women in any role they choose to undertake.
What makes TryLeadHER truly unique is its commitment to removing barriers to participation. The programme is fully funded, meaning all course fees are covered, and travel or accommodation assistance is available where required. Beyond the certifications, it is about connection. Participants will join a safe, supportive network of like-minded women, helping to shape the future of the game while building their own confidence. A highlight of the schedule includes an in-person workshop on Saturday 9 May at Affidea Stadium, timed to coincide with the Ireland v Wales Women’s Six Nations match.
