With the Women's Rugby World Cup arriving in Belfast next week there is a lot of female rugby action in the local Clubs to celebrate the event.
Below is a list of events for which the clubs would no doubt welcome your support:
Monday 21st August: ‘Pass it Back Cup’ at Belfast Harlequins RFC.
The ChildFund Pass It Back programme are bringing a group of girls aged 13-17 from Laos, Philippines and Vietnam to take part in a tag festival playing against girls from across Ulster who have registered to take part. The event takes place at Belfast Harlequins RFC from 11:00am-3:00pm.
Wednesday 23rd August: Carrick RFC will host an American and Canadian team for a reception with the Mayor, a tour of Carrickfergus Castle followed by evening games kicking off at 7:00pm.
Friday 25th August: Cooke RFC will host 2 English teams, an Austrian team and a team from Finland in a round-robin adult festival.
Friday 25th August: Larne RFC host Tyneside Panthers at both U12 and U18 level at 7:00pm.
Friday 25th August: Belfast Youth and Adult 10s Festival at Malone RFC.
24 youth and adult female teams (Irish, Scottish, English, Canadian, Isle of Man, American, French) will take part in Ireland’s biggest female-only rugby festival. The festival will be followed by a first-of-its-kind Ireland Women’s Legends v England Women’s Legends game officiated by Alain Rolland. Youth games start at 9:30am, the adults at midday and the Legends at 7:30pm. There will be a festival atmosphere with food, drink and entertainment with an evening Hawaiian Beach theme into the early hours of Saturday morning. All spectators or revellers welcome.
Saturday 26th August: U13 Girls’ festival at Malone RFC.
Teams from around Ireland participating but any girls born between 1st July 2004 and 31st December 2006 are welcome to take part. Just bring your boots, come to Malone RFC for 10:30am on the day and we’ll get you game time.
Sunday 27th August: Super Sunday at Carrick RFC with an adult 10s festival featuring a number of touring teams. Games start at midday. Food, drink and entertainment all day and late into the evening. All visitors welcome.
Sunday 27th August: Armagh RFC will host two youth games with Virginia RFC U15s playing Stirling County RFC U15s at midday followed by the Ulster U18 Girls extended training squad versus Stirling County U18s at 1:30pm.
