Gilroy: 'Plenty to work on for next week'

We caught up with Craig Gilroy after Ulster's 23-10 defeat against Edinburgh and Goldenacre and he said there's a need for big improvements ahead of the Ospreys game next Friday... How would you reflect on that game? It was very disappointing, especially after we worked so hard this week in training. We wanted to put on a good show with the league starting next week, but we just didn't turn up. You dominated most of the first half. Do you think you were unlucky to be trailing 17-5 at half time? We did. We turned up well and were enthusiastic in the early exchanges. We started well but our body height wasn't good enough going into contact, we didn't keep possession well enough and we didn't take our chances when they came along, particularly in the first 40 minutes. I think that has cost us. To be fair, there were times when we played quite well and a few individuals stood out, so there are a few positives to take from the game as well. You've got Ospreys at home next week and that will be another big challenge? That's right. Like us, they were semi finalists last season so to have them first up in the league will be a huge challenge. It would be great to get a win and get some points on the board early in the season, especially over such a strong team like that. What will the focus be on in training over the next few days? We will get our recovery over the weekend and regroup on Monday and have a look at what we can improve on and work hard at it. We'll look forward with confidence to a massive game on Friday, hopefully in front of a sell-out crowd at home.
