Darryl Petticrew, Programme Co-ordinator at Ulster Rugby, commented: "It’s great to see so many females playing rugby! We had some people there for the first time and others who compete regularly, but the important things is that we are starting to see more female boots on the pitch."
Four of the twelve teams from the Belfast Blitz have qualified for the next stages od the Girls Schools' Cup, which will take place at the start of March.
Within the next week, four more blitzes will be held, delivering to over 50 teams.
The scale of this season's Girls Schools' Cup would not have been possible without the generous support of the NI Executive and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure through the 'Promoting Equality, Tackling Poverty and Social Exclusion through Sport' programme.
