Girls' Super Series: Round 2

Our new programme for Under 16 and Under 18 Girls reaches Round 2 this Sunday... The Super Series will see the next round of games taking place this weekend:
  • Virginia vs Southern Stars at Virginia @ 1pm
  • Eastern Panthers vs North East Lightning at Cooke @ 1pm
  • Enniskillen vs North West Eagles at Enniskillen @ 12pm
Ulster Rugby Development Officer for Women & Girls [West] Becky Hall said: "Over 200 girls aged U16 and U18 took part in the first round of fixtures as part of our Super Series programme on 10th October. It was so great to see girls back on the pitch enjoying their rugby again, especially after the 18-month break. "Club coaches commented on the great experience the girls had playing 15-a-side rugby, and that the programme had created a really good buzz amongst players at their club, with lots of them already looking forward to Round 2." The objective of the Super Series is to grow the profile of girls’ rugby through providing regular match opportunities, eventually increasing the playing numbers of the clubs involved. There will also be development opportunities for the club coaches, as they can observe the sessions led by Ulster Branch staff. Ulster Rugby Development Staff will also use these sessions to identify individuals with potential, and help them to progress along the player pathway. In total, six sides are taking part in the Super Series this season, with games taking place every two weeks. Enniskillen and Virginia compete as standalone teams, while 25 clubs form the four regional sides: Eastern PanthersArds, Ballynahinch, Bangor, Cooke, Donaghadee and MaloneNorth East Lightning Ballymena, Ballymoney, Carrick, Larne, Ophir, Rainey and RandalstownNorth West EaglesCity of Derry, Finn Valley, Inishowen, Letterkenny and LimavadySouthern StarsBanbridge, City of Armagh, Dungannon, Lurgan, Monaghan, Newry and Portadown
