How did you first get involved with the Ulster Pathway?
I got involved with the Ulster Pathway in 2022 when my club coach, Rory, at the time suggested I trial for Ulster 7s. I wasn’t too keen on going, as I was relatively new to rugby. I’d only been playing few months, but my Mam encouraged me to give it a try. I went up to Clones for the open trials, I got to the next round in Cookstown, and I made the final squad. I had my first ever rugby debut with Ulster 7s.

How has the pathway helped you develop your skills as a player?
The Ulster Pathway has been an incredible experience for me. The pathway has developed my catch pass skills, tackle ability, and my technical understanding of the game. It’s even helped me with skills off the pitch.
All the coaches throughout my journey have been so supportive from the head coaches, managers, physios, and the S&C coaches. Everyone has had a helping hand in me developing as a player, they always make themselves available day or night with any questions and concerns I have.
The workshops have been very beneficial, in terms of nutrition, understanding the best way to fuel my body before and after games. The psychology workshops have helped me understand my nerves and how important your mindset is before games, which have been amazing as I struggle with nerves before games.
What has been your favourite rugby memory?
My favourite rugby memory by far must be our club rugby tour in April of last year. We went over to Scotland to watch the Women’s 6 Nations Ireland vs Scotland match and it was my first proper international rugby game. We were in the stands cheering on Ireland, it was such an unreal atmosphere. At the end of the match, Sadhbh McGrath gave me her Ireland jersey, I was so lucky. Seeing how far she has come in her rugby journey has made me set the goal to hopefully one day represent Ireland. Sadhbh McGrath is a role model to me. As a player she always raises her standards and dominates in tackles, her jersey is a constant reminder how hard I need to work.

How does it feel to be a part of the U18 Six Nations squad?**
It’s so surreal to be part of the squad set up, the Ulster Pathway has developed me so much from when I first started rugby just over two years ago. I’m so grateful for everything it has given me. I wouldn’t be in the position I am today without that support. I’m so excited to keep growing as a player and to see how far my journey progresses.
