Logan Praises 'team Belfast' As Pro12 Final Tickets Go On Sale

Having secured the right to host the 2015 Guinness PRO12 Final at Kingspan Stadium on Saturday 30th May 2015, Ulster Rugby will offer a priority booking period for season ticket holders on Ticketmaster from 10am on Monday 2nd February until 8am on Tuesday 3rd February.

Tickets will go on general sale as of 10am Tuesday 3rd February.

Please note the following:
- Season Ticket holders are not guaranteed a ticket, but simply have access to the priority purchase period
- Ticket sales (including priority purchase and general sale) will be exclusively online
- In the event of Ulster Rugby reaching the PRO12 final, a limited number of additional tickets will become available

Ulster Rugby Chief Executive, Shane Logan, was delighted that ‘Team Belfast’ won the right to host the event, in what was a very competitive process: “All twelve of the PRO12 clubs were invited to tender for this season’s final. The PRO12 organisers gave us about six weeks to respond and tenders closed just after Christmas. There were several expressions of interest and in the end it was between Glasgow and ourselves. Glasgow, as you would expect from a city that has hosted the Commonwealth Games, put together what was an extremely impressive case, but we were very pleased to win the bid.”

Detailing why Belfast came out on top, Logan believes a number of factors proved decisive: “The joined up nature of Team Belfast’s approach; involving Ulster Rugby, Visit Belfast, Belfast City Council, the Northern Ireland Tourist Board and Tourism Ireland, was critical to the successful bid. Another key factor is that the rugby public that is available in Ulster is second to none - we have a purpose-built, new 18,000 rugby stadium, we have over 10,000 season ticket holders, we have a track record of selling out games and we have a history of creating memorable rugby occasions. The ability of the city to put on a really special weekend, which has been proven at events like the MTV Awards and the Giro D’Italia, was crucial as well.”

Logan was quick to praise a number of people and organisations for their contribution: “I think credit goes to the Northern Ireland Executive for helping us to fund the stadium. I think it goes to the big number of volunteers and staff who have worked over many years to get us to this point both with the stadium and with our commercial success. Arguably most credit goes to the supporters and the players. The supporters who back us continually and the players who deliver on the pitch and who over the past five years have delivered with increasing regularity.”
