Ulster made the perfect start, taking the lead after three minutes.
Munster knocked on from the kick off, Ulster patiently worked the ball through a number of phases in the 22, eventually forcing the visitors to concede a penalty which out half Jordan McAuley slotted over.
The home side’s lead was short lived as from the restart they conceded a penalty which Munster kicked to the corner, from the lineout the forwards set up a powerful driving maul with blindside flanker Ted O’Callaghan grounding the ball over the try line, Dylan Hicks added the conversion.
Ulster regained the lead on 11 minutes, winger Max McCrabbe was illegally stopped going over in the corner.
Ulster kicked the resulting penalty to touch, the ball was worked through the phases before tight head prop and captain Tom McAllister barged over with McAuley converting.
The lead changed hands again at the end of the first quarter, McAuley’s clearance out of his own 22 was fielded by Munster scrum half Luke Cleary, he went dummied the last defender before cutting inside to go over unopposed with Hicks landing the conversion.
McAuley was on target with his second penalty on 25 minutes after the visitors infringed in front of their own posts.
Munster again breached the Ulster defence on 32 minutes, from a penalty deep inside the home side’s 22 they took a quick tap and after a couple of phases, openside flanker Oisin Minogue squeezed over in the corner for an unconverted try.
Ulster finished the first half strongly camped on the Munster line but resolute defence from the visitors kept their line intact and they went into the interval with a 19-13 lead.
McAuley kicked his third penalty of the afternoon seven minutes after the restart.
The Coleraine Grammar School out half levelled the scores with his fourth penalty on 50 minutes which went over via the upright.
Ulster were reduced to 14 men when centre Jonny Scott was sin-binned for deliberately slowing the ball down on 53 minutes.
Ulster’s openside flanker Finn Fehnert was yellow carded on 67 minutes for a dangerous tackle and Munster profited immediately.
They kicked the resulting penalty to touch and from the driving maul, hooker Fionn Casserly powered over for an unconverted try.
Hicks missed the chance to increase the visitor’s lead when his long-range penalty dropped short.
Munster sealed victory with a try from the final passage of play as centre Gene O’Leary- Kareem touched down among a pile of bodies and Hicks converted from a tight angle.
