Monaghan Rfc Host Tag Rugby Session For St. Oliver Plunketts School

Monaghan RFC hosted a tag rugby skills session on Thursday 26th March involving 12 pupils and some staff members from St. Oliver Plunketts School.

The session was the culmination of a number of training sessions that had been delivered by David McGregor from Monaghan RFC as part of the Xcessible Youth Sport Initiative ‘Special Schools Tag Rugby’ in conjunction with Monaghan Sports Partnership.

Ulster Rugby players Stuart McCloskey and Luke Marshall joined the children for the skills training session which was followed by a game of tag rugby. The event was brought to a conclusion with the provision of refreshments in the clubhouse. Dean McElroy, Sports Inclusion Development Officer, Monaghan Sports Partnership, said: “The project has been a great success, providing an opportunity to introduce the school and the children to the sport of tag rugby and creating a link between the club and the school.”

David McGregor, Monaghan RFC Director of Rugby, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed being involved with the school and I look forward to working together in the future.”
