Stevenson Sharks, which is affiliated to Dungannon RFC, was set up to promote health and wellbeing for children with a learning disability / special needs through playing Tag Rugby. Now Gilroy and Jackson have thrown their weight behind the initiative by attending sessions to join in the fun and teach new skills to the children.
The weekly sessions take place on Sunday mornings (11- 12) at Stevenson Park, Dungannon RFC, from September to November and March to June. The last session of the current season will be held on Sunday 30th June.
The coaching team is made up of dedicated volunteers with a wide range of skills and experience; including accredited coaches, players and learning disability professionals, as well as people who just want to get stuck in.
Registration for new players is open for children with a learning disability / special needs aged 6-18 years. Members will be separated into teams according on age and ability.
The club is also seeking volunteers, aged 16+, to assist in a range of roles, including coaches and assistant coaches. The club are also hoping to attract sponsors to assist with the provision of opportunities for children with a learning disability / special needs in the area.

The Stevenson Sharks is one of five Special Needs Tag Rugby teams in Ulster. The others are Ballymena Bears, Donaghadee Sharkies, Harberton Seahorses and Newforge Taggers.
