Open Training Session at Lurgan RFC

The Ulster Rugby squad will hold an open training session at Lurgan RFC’s Pollock Park on Friday 9th August as part of its ongoing community engagement strategy. The Armagh GAA squad will also train at the ground-breaking event and both sets of players will be available for autographs and photos. The event is FREE but admission is by ticket only. You can click here to download free tickets. A series of ‘Games of Two Halves’ (a half of rugby and a half of Gaelic Football) will take place between Lurgan RFC and four of the local Gaelic Football clubs; St. Peter’s GAA, St. Paul’s GAA, Eire Og and Clan na Gael. This will be a fun evening for all of the family and everyone is welcome to attend. Ample car parking is available on site at Pollock Park. Ulster Rugby’s CEO, Jonny Petrie, is looking forward to the visit: “Connecting with our local communities and supporting the growth of rugby at grassroots level is central to what we’re about as an organisation.
“While the players attend many club, school and community events each week, it’s extra special when we have the opportunity to get out to see the Ulster public en masse.
“Lurgan Rugby Club’s PEACE IV programme is hugely encouraging and it’s really pleasing to be able to put our weight behind their fantastic cross-community work. “Hopefully this event will attract a large crowd and further highlight the positive role that sport can play in bringing people together.” The trip follows successful visits to Coleraine RFC, Letterkenny RFC, Bangor RFC, Monaghan RFC, Donegal Town RFC, Strabane RFC, City of Derry RFC, Clogher Valley RFC, Virginia RFC and Inishowen RFC in recent years.
