Ospreys 12 Ulster 24

Ulster made it two from two in the Guinness PRO14, with a convincing win away from home against Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium this evening.
The visitors were the first to get on the scoreboard in the seventh minute of the game, after a period of patient play from the forwards, recycling the ball before Ian Madigan sent Jacob Stockdale over. John Cooney added the conversion. The hosts got their first points after 21 minutes through the boot of Stephen Myler, reducing the deficit to four points. The Ulster forwards had another busy period on the half-hour mark, making hard carries and earning a penalty in front of the posts for John Cooney to slot over. Just before half-time, Ulster had the opportunity to extend their lead when the pack earned a scrum penalty just inside the Ospreys half, but the difficult kick from John Cooney was just off-target. With the clock in the red, Ospreys responded immediately with a long-range penalty of their own, Stephen Myler sending the ball over and the flags up, reducing the gap once again to four points. Ulster came out firing in the second half, with Jacob Stockdale testing the Ospreys defence through the boot and ball in hand. Marcell Coetzee got Ulster's second try of the night with Cooney adding the conversion. Ospreys fly-half, Myler added another two penalties to his and the hosts' total of twelve points. The final score came from a lovely wraparound from Ian Madigan which sent Rob Lyttle and John Cooney on a scintillating run, the scrum-half showing great strength to turn around in the tackle to ground the ball. He converted his try, bringing his personal tally for the evening to fourteen.
