Their articles included a few really interesting insights into the player who is making his return from injury this evening: Meadhbh Brennan asked him how he got through the last nine months on the sidelines:
"Stephen Ferris has been through an injury with me in the last year, we have used each other as a crutch - it is nice seeing progress. It's quite motivating actually.'
She also asked him about the bad weather that is predicted for this evening and he said that it is nothing compared to New Zealand: '"It was the coldest I'd ever played in, there were guys in the shower rooms with their boots and kit on!"
She concluded her article by saying: Last week's victory has given Paddy the urge to win again - his aim was to come back with the important fixtures coming up in the next few months. His desire is to play at a Professional level again - he has no thoughts on retiring just yet and he wants to be a part of an Ulster team winning silverware. Victoria Philbin asked Paddy about his love of NFL and which team he would like to play for: He said: "I'm an Oakland Raiders fan, unfortunately, and they've been terrible for the last decade, but I grew up back to enjoying the [Chicago] Bears." Victoria is from Illinois: Since I told him that I am from Chicago, he added that he wrote a letter to legendary Bears running back, Walter Payton. He sent back an autographed photo of himself. Colm O'Hagan wrote about Paddy's recovery: When asked how he managed the process Paddy said that "Looking at the injury as a whole can be daunting. The initial injury is awful but once you get it around your head, you can break the recovery up into short term goals." At times Paddy found it hard to stay focused but said that "there are always pools of players injured and they act as moral support when times get hard". Ulster have a busy upcoming few weeks, with two inter-provincial clashes and two Heineken Cup games on the horizon, Paddy says that "Christmas is always a busy time and to play was my aim." With two games for the Ravens under his belt a fresh faced Paddy Wallace is ready for his return to a fully booked Ravenhill this Friday against Zebre.
