Sean Reidy says Ulster produced a much improved performance against Munster last weekend, and has called on his team mates to continue that progress into the crucial Guinness PRO12 clash versus Ospreys at the end of the month.
Reflecting on the narrow 22-20 defeat at Thomond Park, Reidy said:
“It’s bitterly disappointing. A lot of emotion went into the build-up - we knew we would have to front up if we were to come down here and beat this Munster side. I thought it was a good step up from the boys in terms of physicality from last week (against Cardiff) - we talked about that during the week I think for the most part we did that.
But despite dominating for long periods of the game, and creating more clear-cut chances than their opponents, it was Munster, who have now won 23 of their 27 matches this season, who edged home.
“It’s disappointing that we didn’t finished off a few of our green zone efforts, declared Reidy.
“We just had too many knock-ons at critical times and it let them back into the game. We have to cut out the handling errors, especially against sides as good as Munster.”
And while the disappointment was evident post-match, the 27-year-old insists they have to approach the trip to Ospreys with a positive mind-set.
“We have Ospreys over there and it’s going to be a very tough game, so we’ll prepare for that accordingly.
“Ospreys have been playing some pretty good footy all year, it’s just in the last few weeks that they’ve had a few slip ups,” said Reidy, referring to the O’s four consecutive defeats; against Treviso, Stade Francais, Leinster and Cardiff.
“We know what they’re like over there and we’re not going to take it lightly - it’s all or nothing! You’ve got to roll with the punches.”
With Ospreys currently in 4th, Ulster in 5th, and just one point separating the two teams, it certainly is all or nothing!
