Ulster Rugby, IFA and the Ulster GAA recently joined forces with Peace Players International to deliver a multi-sport skills programme to a group of young men in Hydebank Prison.
The participants rotated between three station, one of which was facilitated by Ulster Rugby's Community Rugby Coach, Neill Alcorn.
The 'taster sessions' were used to introduce the participants to the game as they learnt the basic principles of play and developed their skills. After a break for lunch the groups came together to play competitive matches in all three sports.
It was a great day of fun enjoyment and hard work and there are now hopes for a long term programme to be put in place.
The coaching input from Ulster Rugby has been made possible due to the generous support of the NI Executive and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure through the 'Promoting Equality, Tackling Poverty and Social Exclusion through Sport' programme.
