A round-up of the latest Danske Bank Schools’ rugby action by Ulster Schools’ PRO Barney McGonigle:

On Monday 30th January the draws were released for the 1/2 Finals of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup and Plate 1/2 Finals.

The results of the draws are as follows:-

  • 1/Methodist College, Belfast 3rdxv v Campbell College, Belfast 4thxv
  • 2/Royal Belfast Academical Institution 3rdxv v Ballymena Academy 3rdxv/Enniskillen Royal Grammar School 3rdxv

These Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup 1/2 Finals MUST be played on/before Saturday 11th February.

Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate 1/2 Finals

  • 1/Wallace High School 3rdxv v Royal School, Armagh 3rdxv/Dromore High School 3rdxv
  • 2/Belfast Royal Academy 3rdxv/Royal Belfast Academical Institution 5thxv v Regent House School 3rdxv

These Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate 1/2 Finals MUST be played on/before Saturday 11th February.

There was one Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup 1/4 Final game played on Monday 30th January when Campbell College hosted Ballymena Academy.

The Campbell College, Belfast 2ndxv won the game by 20-14 and will now travel to play Sullivan Upper School 2ndxv in the 1/2 Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup.

On the same afternoon Portadown College played Dromore High School in the one outstanding Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Trophy 1/4 Final game.

The Portadown College team won the game by 26-0 and will now host Rainey Endowed School 2ndxv in the 1/2 Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Trophy.

That evening a Campbell College, Belfast “Select” xv played against the Ulster U18 Clubs’ team at the Meadowbank Stadium in Magherafelt.

The Campbell College, Belfast team won the game by 12-3. Ollie Park and George Carson scored the Campbell College tries with Ollie adding one conversion.

Darcy Clarke from Monaghan RFC converted a penalty kick for the Ulster Clubs’ team.

On Wednesday 1st February Ballyclare High School and Wallace High School met in the one remaining Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2nd xv Cup 1/4 Final game.

Wallace High School won the game by 40-19 and will now play Methodist College, Belfast 2ndxv in the 1/2 Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup.

In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup 1/4 Final Ballymena Academy 3rdxv hosted Enniskillen Royal Grammar School 3rdxv.

The Ballymena Academy 3rdxv won the game by 34-19 and will now travel to play Royal Belfast Academical Institution 3rdxv in the 1/2 Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup on/before Saturday 11th February.

In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate 1/4 Final Royal School, Armagh 3rdxv played Dromore High School 3rdxv and won the game by 40-0.

The Royal School, Armagh team will now travel to play Wallace High School 3rdxv in the 1/2 Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate on/before Saturday 11th February.

In the same competition Belfast Royal Academy 3rdxv hosted Royal Belfast Academical Institution 5thxv and won the game by 36-0.

The Belfast Royal Academy 3rdxv will now host Regent House 3rdxv in the 1/2 Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate on/before Saturday 11th February.

Another game was played on Wednesday 1st February when Banbridge Academy hosted Dalriada School in their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy 1/4 Final replay.

Banbridge Academy, as 27-7 winners, will now host Grosvenor Grammar School in the 1/2 Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy.

On Thursday 2nd February Strabane Academy played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School in the 1/2 Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy.

The Enniskillen Royal Grammar School team won the game by 13-0.

On Saturday 4th February Methodist College, Belfast 2ndxv played Wallace High School in the 1/2 Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup and won the game by 38-7.

In the 2nd Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup 1/2 Final Sullivan Upper School 2ndxv hosted Campbell College, Belfast 2ndxv.

The Campbell College, Belfast 2ndxv won the game by 24-10.

In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Plate 1/2 Finals Royal School, Armagh 2ndxv played Coleraine Grammar School 2ndxv and won the game by 48-12.

Enniskillen Royal Grammar School 2ndxv played Belfast Royal Academy 2ndxv and it was the Belfast Royal Academy team that returned home having won the game by 22-0.

Bangor Grammar School 2ndxv played Foyle and Londonderry College 2ndxv in the 1/2 Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Trophy.

The Foyle College team won the game by 12-8.

Portadown College 2ndxv played Rainey Endowed School 2ndxv in the 1/2 Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Trophy.

The Rainey Endowed School team won the game by 19-13.

In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield 1/4 Finals Ballymena Academy played Bangor Grammar School and recorded a 39-5 victory.

Campbell College, Belfast played Regent House School and won the game by 36-12.

Dromore High School played Belfast Royal Academy and it was the Belfast Royal Academy team that won the high scoring game by30-20.

Royal School, Armagh hosted Royal Belfast Academical Institution in a game the Royal Belfast Academical Institution team won by 40-0.

In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Plate 1/4 Finals Foyle and Londonderry College played Ballyclare High School.

The Ballyclare High School team won the closely contested game by 10-5.

Larne Grammar School played Methodist College, Belfast and the Methodist College, Belfast team won the game by 33-19.

Sullivan Upper School played Royal School, Dungannon in a game the Royal School, Dungannon team won by 29-14.

Wallace High School entertained Friends’ School, Lisburn and recorded a comfortable 36-5 victory.

Once the results of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield and Plate 1/4 Finals were known the draws for the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield and Bowl 1/2 Finals were released.

These Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Plate 1/2 Finals MUST be played on/before Saturday 25th February.

In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Bowl 1/2 Finals Coleraine Grammar School played Rainey Endowed School and won the game by 48-12.

In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy 1/2 Finals Banbridge Academy played Grosvenor Grammar School and won the game by 41-5.

In the first Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Trophy Bangor Academy played Carrickfergus Grammar School in a game the Bangor Academy team won by 12-7.

The Bangor Academy points came through ties from Frankie Shivers and Ethan McGrogan with Kailen Cantley adding one conversion.

The Carrickfergus Grammar School points came through a try from Logan Beters which was converted by Ellis Branagh.

The Bangor Academy team will now travel to play Strabane Academy in the 1/4 Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Trophy on/before Saturday 11th February.
