Armagh RFC recently hosted a screening camp as part of the selection process for the upcoming UK Girls Schools 7s tournament.
A squad of girls from the four provinces of Ireland will travel to England in early-September to compete in this UK-wide sports event.
120 girls aged 16-19 attended the three screening camp venues at Limerick, Navan and Armagh. The Ulster-based camp had 22 players. From this, 8 were chosen to progress to the second-stage screening camp which took place at Ashbourne, just outside Dublin, last Saturday. It will be an anxious wait for those girls who are hoping to find out later this week if they have been selected for the squad training camps throughout August.
Ulster Rugby would like to thank and congratulate all those girls who attended the screening camps. The standard was high throughout which made the selectors job a tough one. We would also wish good luck to those girls waiting on news from last Saturday.
