Ulster Rugby Help To 'kick Cancer Into Touch' With £34,000 Donation

Ulster Rugby is delighted to announce that during the 2013/14 season our players, staff, volunteers and supporters raised a tremendous £34057.31 for Cancer Research UK.

As Official Charity Partner of the Year last season Cancer Research joined forces with Ulster Rugby to ‘Kick Cancer into Touch’. Throughout the season Ulster Rugby held a number of events to raise money for the charity including Pink Night, an online and Premium Lounge auction, a Christmas Collection, a Club Collection Day, Family Fun Day and charity calendar.

We would like to say a massive thank you to all of those people who supported the events throughout the season and so generously donated online or through bucket collections around the stadium.

Having chosen to support Cancer Research UK during his year as President, John Robinson said:

“I am absolutely delighted to hear that the final figure raised for Cancer Research is in excess of £34,000. This is a tremendous achievement and speaks volumes about the generosity of the Ulster Rugby community, who supported this very worthwhile cause through their donations at games, club matches and other events held throughout the season.  I would like to thank most sincerely all those people who contributed to this tremendous fundraising effort and also all those staff and volunteers involved in organising the events. I know that this money is greatly appreciated by Cancer Research UK and will assist in the continual fight against this dreadful disease.”

Speaking on behalf of Cancer Research UK, NI Regional Manager, Ryan McClintock said:

“We, at Cancer Research UK in Belfast are overwhelmed at the £34057.31 that Ulster Rugby has raised over the 2013/14 season. It is an incredible amount of money and it will all go towards crucial life-saving research. Everyone from Ulster Rugby got behind our partnership, from the players, to the staff and supporters and I would just like to wish them all well for the 2014/15 season and beyond. SUFTUM!”
