Ulster Rugby locks in Senior Men’s squad for next season

With a United Rugby Championship home quarter-final secured for Friday night, Ulster Rugby continues to showcase its ambition as a club by confirming the professional team for the 2022/23 season.

Following today’s news that All Black, Jeffery Toomaga-Allen, will soon call himself one of the Ulster men, the province can also announce that 24-year-old back, Angus Curtis, has signed for a further year, and completes the confirmed line-up for next season’s squad.

With thirteen months under his belt since a return from serious injury, Curtis has been involved in several of Ulster’s twelve wins in this season’s United Rugby Championship – including a try-scoring performance in a bonus point victory over Scarlets in-front of a home crowd.

This signifies the conclusion of business for the Heineken Champions Cup and United Rugby Championship campaigns in the season ahead, with a squad of 45 fully-contracted players and 2 Development players named, of which 44 are Irish-qualified – with 31 players having come through the Ulster Rugby Academy pathway or Ulster club system.

The four new Senior signings already named – Frank Bradshaw Ryan, Jake Flannery, Declan Moore and Sean Reffell – are set to bolster, alongside Toomaga-Allen, an already impressive squad, which saw 19 players re-sign in the past twelve months to continue on the path that Dan McFarland and his men are on.

While the two Development players – Shea O’Brien and Jude Postlethwaite – show that the pipeline of young talent continues from the Ulster Rugby Academy and provincial club game directly into the Senior squad.

Details of the Ulster Rugby Academy squad will be released in due course.
