Ulster Rugby Players Help To Paint Local School Hall

The school hall at Cregagh Primary School got a facelift this week as Ulster Rugby stars Callum Black and Craig Gilroy popped in to lend a hand.

As part of the redevelopment of Kingspan Stadium and the associated social clauses attached to it, stadium contractors Gilbert Ash have collaborated with Ulster Rugby to help support Cregagh PS by repainting their school hall.

As part of the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure’s ‘Promoting Equality, Tackling Poverty and Social Exclusion through Sport’ programme, Ulster Rugby has been working closely to develop relationships with community representatives from the Cregagh Estate as well as Cregagh Primary School. This includes delivering rugby participation and fitness development programmes, as well as community development initiatives within the area. Cregagh is one of a number of areas in which Ulster Rugby has been delivering providing new opportunities to play, coach, volunteer and spectate.

School Principal, Ronnie Milligan, commented: “As an avid and vocal Ulster Rugby season ticket holder, as well as being Principal of Cregagh Primary School, I am delighted with the wonderful relationship which has developed between Ulster Rugby and the school. Our children have hugely benefitted from superb rugby coaching, participating in and meeting Ulster players at photoshoots, and having Sparky and John Afoa open our Sport and Community Health Day. The children were also thrilled to participate in our sponsored run at Kingspan Stadium.

“But for us all, the cherry on the cake was when the players joined stadium contractors Gilbert Ash to re-paint our school / community hall. This wonderful gesture meant so much to the Cregagh community.”
