There were two midweek fixtures played on Wednesday 17th October when Foyle and Londonderry College played Limavady Grammar School in a game the Limavady Grammar School team won by 36-17.
The Limavady GS points came through tries from Joshua Howe, who touched down twice, John McMichael, Dillon Walsh and James Howe. James added four conversions as well as a penalty.
The Foyle and Londonderry College points came through a hat trick of tries from Keelin Coyle who was also successful with one conversion.
The second game saw Dalriada School score a comprehensive 59-0 win against Larne Grammar School.
Peter Wright scored two tries for Dalriada with Paddy Steele, Cameron McIlroy, Paddy Carson, Philip Ervine, Peter McConaghie and Aaron Gervais each scoring one try. James Methodist College, Belfast celebrated their 150th Anniversary by hosting a two day tournament involving schools from all round Ireland as well as Mount Saint Mary’s from England and Cymeodd College from Wales. The tournament started on Friday 19th.

Eventually, with all the group games played and semi-finals of the various competitions played, Belfast Royal Academy defeated Ballymena Academy in the final of the Plate Competition, by 22-5, Campbell College lost by 12-0 against Wallace High School in the final of the Bowl Competition, Methodist College defeated Clongowes Wood College in the final of the Shield Competition and St Michael’s College defeated Blackrock College in the final of the Cup Competition winning the Eric Lindsay Memorial Cup in the process.

Ballyclare High School hosted St Gerard’s School and Wesley College in an U16 Blitz which was staged at Ballyclare RFC. In a very competitive set of thirty ,minute games Ballyclare High School defeated Wesley College by 21-14, St Gerard’s School defeated Wesley College by 17-7 and then went to record a 19-14 win against Ballyclare High School. Everyone involved would like to thank the Ballyclare RFC for hosting such an enjoyable event.
Banbridge Academy hosted Coleraine Grammar School in a game the Coleraine GS team won by 26-0. Seven of the Coleraine Grammar school points came through a penalty try with Conor Potts, Cameron Leighton and Mark Lamont each scoring one try. Pierce Crowe added two conversions.
Despite the scoreline the Banbridge Academy team was competitive throughout the game with Adam Hanna and Hugo Bertholon impressing.
Belfast High School played Friends’ School, Lisburn in a game the Friends’ School team won by 40-15. The Friends’ School team had built up a 21-10 lead by the break through tries from Ben Topping, David Scott and Ethan Terris, all three of which were converted by Reece Malone. The Belfast High School points came through a try from Jack Ferguson as well as a conversion and penalty from Aaron Douglas.
The Friends’ School team scored three more tries in the second half with Ben Topping touching down for his second. Reece Malone and Stuart Patterson each scored one with Reece adding two conversions. The Belfast High School team scored an unconverted try late in the second half to leave the scoreboard reading 40-15 in favour of the Friends’ School, Lisburn team.
Dalriada School defeated Cambridge House Grammar School by 26-7 when the teams met at the St James Road venue. Will Scott, Caleb Bartlett, Henry Ross and James McCormick each scored a try for the Dalriada School team with James adding three conversions.
Kane McIlroy scored the try for the Cambridge House team with Ross McCormick adding the conversion.
Dromore High School lost by 56-0 against a rampant Portadown College team when the teams met on Saturday 20th October. The Portadown College team scored four converted tries in each half. Christopher Thornberry, Jordan Robb, Reuben Boyd and Dylan Nelson were the first half scorers with Adam Speers adding the four conversions.
The second half tries came from Drew Fleck, Joe Orr, Elliott McKew and Dylan Nelson. Once again Adam Speers was successful with all four conversions.
Foyle and Londonderry College lost by 31-0 against Enniskillen Royal Grammar School. Curtis Coalter touched down twice with Calum Smyton, Taine Haire and Stuart Brown running in for one try each. Eddie Keys added three conversions to secure the 31-0 victory for the Enniskillen Royal Grammar School team.
Grosvenor Grammar School hosted Carrickfergus Grammar School in a game the Grosvenor Grammar School team won by 36-15. The first half was evenly contested with the scoreboard reading 10-10 at the break. Daniel Curley scored a try, a conversion and a penalty for the Carrickfergus Grammar School team in the first half. The Grosvenor points came from a try from Josh Patterson which was converted by Adam Moore. Adam was also successful with a first half penalty.
The Grosvenor Grammar School team scored twenty six points in the second half with Liam Kaprigiannis-Green scoring an unconverted try for the Carrickfergus Grammar School team. Josh Malcolm, Harry Graham, Josh Patterson and Adam Moore scored tries for the Grosvenor Grammar School team with Adam converting three of the tries.
Larne Grammar School got back to winning ways when they defeated Antrim Grammar School by 50-14. The Larne Grammar School team scored eight tries with Steven Dickey capping a fine personal performance with a hat trick, Jason Ward scoring two and Andrew Herron, Jack Lough and Calum Adair scoring one each. Euan Glenn was successful with five of his conversion kicks.
The Antrim Grammar School team displayed great commitment throughout the game and got some reward for their endeavours when Callum McComb and Adam Carville ran in for tries both of which were converted by Callum Hull.
Lurgan College and Wallace High School were both missing players when the teams met at the Lough Road venue. The Wallace High School extended 1st xv squad was taking part in the Methodist College 150th Anniversary Tournament and sent a “Select” xv to play the Lurgan College team that was missing a number of regulars due to other school commitments. The Lurgan team won the ensuing encounter by 57-5 and scored nine tries in the process. Jack Dunn scored twice with Theo Dixon, Ryan Allen, Andrew Ferguson, Justin Burns, Josh Woods, Luke Forsythe and Jon Woods scoring one try each. Harry Bird was successful with six conversions.
Omagh Academy and Royal School, Armagh met at the Meadowbank Stadium in Magherafelt in a game the Royal School, Armagh team won by 39-8. Christie Paul, with two, Michael Campbell, Peter Thompson, Andrew McSorley, Aaron Woods and Josh King scored the RS Armagh tries to which Romaine Morrow added two conversions.
The Omagh Academy points came through an unconverted try from Joe Duff and a Will Stewart penalty.
Rainey Endowed School hosted Limavady Grammar School in a game the Rainey Endowed School team won by 38-7. The Rainey team had taken a 26-0 lead into the break through tries from Ross Speers, Adam McCrum, Bryn Davies, and Mark Seffen. Jonathan Brennan added three first half conversions.
Tim Campbell and Bryn Davies scored second half tries for the Rainey Endowed School team to which Jonathan Brennan added one conversion.
Austin Hargan scored the Limavady Grammar School try which was converted by James Howe.
