Ulster fought back with some good forward play. The driving maul was a weapon Munster found hard to control and it was this that got Ulster back into the game. The try came through Joel Dundas after good work by all the team. The conversion was missed and the score remained 7 points to 5 at half time.
In the second half Ulster continued their pressure defence and on reclaiming the ball pushed hard into Munster territory. But it was Munster again whose backs caused most problems for the Ulster rearguard, as they cut through to score an unconverted try of their own.
Ulster fought back, with both backs and forwards carrying ball, pushing Munster back hard into their territory. Munster gave away the penalty that allowed Ulster to kick to the corner for the line out.
The maul again proved Ulster’s best aspect and it was from it that the ball reached wing Curtis Henry to power over for the try, with Greg Hartley’s conversion levelling the sides at 12-12.
In the closing minutes Ulster pressed hard and were rewarded with a penalty. Hutley struck it well but unfortunately the kick drifted just wide with the windy conditions and the game finished all square.
Coaches Bryan Young and Jamie Turkington praised the players after the game for the way they played and for their overall development over the summer months.
