Sunday sees the beginning of the Women’s Junior Cup, while on the national stage, Malone and Queens University fly the Ulster flag in the All-Ireland Junior Cup.
There are also five fixtures taking place in Women’s Championship A with a further fixture being played in Championship B.
On Saturday, the Championship returns after a two-week hiatus with a full programme of fixtures down for decision on Saturday, and there is also a full round of Danske Bank Schools Cup Qualifying fixtures.
In the Women’s All-Ireland Junior Cup, Malone host Navan at Gibson Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Cregagh Road outfit have been knocking on the door of All-Ireland success in recent years, but team captain Jill Stephens says that this year the team is more determined than ever to gain so much craved silverware.
“Very exciting fixture and we are looking for to it,” Stephens said.
“We have been competitive over the last couple of years. We got to the final two years ago where we lost to Barnhall, so we are looking to keep climbing and go that extra step.”
Queens University are another side with aspirations of success on the national stage.
They are on the road to face Creggs, a club in the west of Ireland that sits on the border of counties Galway and Roscommon. And as Megan Creighton says, it’s a venue that the Queens Women are more than familiar with.
“We went down there last season and had a great win, so we are going down there again hoping to do the same again,” said Creighton.
Scrum-half Creighton is hoping a successful run in the All-Ireland Junior Cup can be the launchpad for success on the domestic front as they push for promotion to the All-Ireland league.
“It’s a really big goal for us this year to win the All-Ireland Junior Cup and gain promotion to the AIL.
“We’ve been boarding on promotion for a couple of seasons, but we feel that this season is the year to do and push on to a higher level of rugby.”
Both games take place on Sunday and will kick-off at 2:30pm.
In the Women’s Junior Cup, Virginia host Clogher Valley, while Banbridge welcome Ballymena to Rifle Park.
In the Women’s Championship A Division, Belfast Harlequins host Portadown, Dungannon entertain City of Derry, Letterkenny welcome Omagh to Dave Gallaher Park, Lisburn take on Randalstown, and Ophir host Ballynahinch.
In Championship B, North Down travel to IJM Park to take on Monaghan.
On Saturday afternoon, the Men’s Championship returns with Omagh’s visit to Limavady the stand-out tie in Championship 1.
The Accies are unbeaten to date, and they currently sit second in the league with four wins from four outings. Limavady will be keen to bounce back to winning ways following their first loss of the season to Dromore last time out.
Limavady will be hopeful that home advantage could spurn them back to winning ways and derail Omagh’s drive for promotion.
Leaders Dromore face an equally difficult road trip as they face Ballymoney at Kilraughts Road.
Bangor welcome Portadown to Upritchard Park, while Cooke and Ards will be hoping to use home advantage to their benefit against Belfast Harlequins and Lurgan respectively.
In Championship 2, leaders Strabane make the short trip to Judges Road to take on City of Derry, while there’s an equally important game in the race for promotion at Tom Simms Memorial Park where Carrickfergus take on CIYMS.
Academy go to the North-West to take on Coleraine while Larne host Randalstown and Lisburn welcome Letterkenny to Eglantine Road.
Virginia and Grosvenor are five points clear of the chasing pack at the top of Championship 3, and they’ll be hoping to at least maintain that gap after this weekend’s fixtures.
Grosvenor make the short trip to Stormont to take on Civil Service, while Virginia take on PSNI at Chambers Park, Portadown.
Promotion hopefuls Monaghan and Donaghadee take on each other at IJM Park, Monaghan, while Cavan will host Belfast High School Former Pupils at Swellan Park. At Telford Park, Newry, welcome Ulster University.
Saturday morning also sees the second round of fixtures in the group stages of the Danske Bank Schools Cup with a number of teams knowing that only a win will do if they are to remain in the competition.
