Three Ulster men selected for U18 Irish training camp

Three Ulster men have been chosen in a 24-strong Ireland Under-18 Men’s squad, sponsored by PwC, for a mini-training camp this week, which will culminate in a a challenge match against a Wales U-18 selection next Sunday.

The three-day camp forms part of the build-up to the U18 Men’s Six Nations which takes place in Parma in April, with two more camps to come ahead of the festival.

The Ireland Under-18 Men’s squad is coached this season by Neil Doak, Michael Hodge, and Brendan O’Connor.

Speaking on the opportunity for the boys, our Provincial Talent Coach, Michael Black, said:

“It’s great to see a number of our players being selected for this U18 international against Wales. The Easter period is always an exciting time as the very best Ulster U18 and U19 Age Grade players compete for inclusion in the various international games and tournaments being held during this window.

"Several players were not eligible for selection in this game due to the upcoming Danske Bank Schools Cup Final, but I look forward seeing them perform to their potential and stake a claim in the U18 Six Nations Tournament squad.

"To be selected for Ireland is a huge honour, and credit should go to the players who have put in a lot of work since the Ulster Rugby summer programme began last July, alongside the input the players receive from a vast array of club and school coaches, who play a massive part in their journey. I look forward to seeing these players enjoy the experience and use the opportunity to develop further.”
