Local rugby fans are gearing up for the 37th annual Nutty Krust Rugby Floodlit Tournament.
Players from nine teams across Ulster will take part in the tournament which kicks off 27th January 2015 at Chambers Park, home of the Portadown RFC.
Following a draw made by Bobby Stewart, IRFU (Ulster Branch) President and Brian Irwin, Chairman of sponsor Irwin’s Bakery, Banbridge will take on Ballynahinch in the first match.
Defending champions, Dromore and last year’s runners-up, Rainey, will also be among the teams to take to the pitch throughout the spring, with the final match taking place on 27th April 2016.
Portadown-based Irwin’s Bakery has sponsored the tournament for the last 37 years. Brian Irwin said he can’t wait for this year’s competition to get underway:
“We look forward to this tournament every year as it is a true showcase of the young talent Ulster has to offer,” he said. “As a local business that has been baking bread for more than 100 years, we have always been big supporters of grassroots athletics across Northern Ireland, as it is our way of contributing to Northern Ireland’s strong heritage of sport.
