Ulster Rugby has teamed up with Alzheimer's Society as their official charity partner for the 2015/16 season. Working with Ulster Rugby, Alzheimer's Society hope to raise much needed funds to help people live well with dementia today and fund research to find a cure for tomorrow. The charity will be urging people worried about their memory 'Don't keep it under your hat', with a number of themed events planned throughout the year. Richard Gilliland, Senior Corporate Fundraising Executive said: "We are delighted to have been chosen as a charity partner for Ulster Rugby and look forward to working with them on an exciting calendar of events to raise money for Alzheimer's Society.  "Dementia is caused by diseases of the brain and can affect anyone. There are currently 19,765 people in Northern Ireland with the condition and that figure set to rise as the population ages. "Money raised from this partnership will go towards helping people to live well with dementia in their local communities and fund research to find a cure." Each year, Ulster Rugby raises money through a series of events and initiatives in aid of a designated charity or voluntary organisation partner. Bobby Stewart, IRFU (Ulster Branch) President said: "With an ageing population, the number of people with dementia is increasing and it is therefore affecting more and more people. I have a relative living with Alzheimer's, so I know all about the excellent work that Alzheimer's Society do in supporting people with dementia and their families. "I hope that our partnership will bring the disease to the forefront of the public's mind and help to generate some much-needed funds for a marvellous cause. "I urge the Ulster Rugby community to get behind our campaign this season and help us to make it a success." This year's partnership will kick off with a 'Don't keep it under your hat' charity event against the Cardiff Blues which take place at Kingspan Stadium in Belfast on Friday 23rd October. People will be asked to wear a hat as a conversation starter, encouraging people to talk and support the campaign - so the funkier the better!
