Active Awards for Sport is a small grants programme primarily aimed at grassroots community based sport. Groups can apply for grants from £1,000 - £10,000.
The programme will prioritise sports clubs and community groups, especially those based in areas of greatest need.
In particular the programme will look to contribute to Promote Equality, Tackle Poverty and Social Exclusion. The programme priorities are:
- Increasing participation in sport and physical recreation especially among underrepresented groups:
- Women and girls
- People with a disability
- People from a minority ethnic group
- Older people
Supporting projects based in areas of greatest need – either Neighbourhood renewal areas or the 25% most deprived Super Output Areas using the Northern Ireland Multiple Deprivation Measure, 2010 (NISRA).
The current round of funding closes at 12 noon on 21st March 2014.
For more information about the programme, guidance notes and to apply please visit www.sportni.net/Funding/Awards+for+Sport.
Sport NI will be delivering a number of information sessions in February to explain the grant programme and its process. Details of these and associated registration can be found at the link above also. I would encourage your Club to have a read through the guidance notes first off, identify potential projects that will match up with Sport NI programme priorities (as outlined above) and then attend one of the information sessions.
