Over 1,500 young rugby players from 20 clubs will attend Ballyclare RFC's annual Mini Rugby Festival on Saturday 29th April.
Widely acknowledged as one of the biggest and best festivals in Ireland for this age group, the all-day event at The Cloughan ground in Ballyclare will see more than 100 teams of boys and girls participate.
Now in its 35th year, the festival will welcome clubs from across Ulster and beyond. The players range in age from Primary 3 to Year 8, with the youngest players starting off play in the morning and the older players taking to the pitches for the afternoon sessions.
Entertainment and attractions are available to the players, their families and supporters in between matches, along with hot and cold refreshments.
Three nominated charities benefit from Ballyclare Mini Rugby’s fundraising activity throughout the season, which culminates with the festival: Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI, Cancer Fund for Children and the Clare Hares.
The Clare Hares, based at Ballyclare RFC, are a TAG rugby team for children with learning disabilities. The P6 mini rugby squad will be training with Clare Hares on Friday 21st April at 7.00pm
