On Sunday 3 November 2019, Banbridge RFC will welcome the Malone Tornadoes Mixed Ability Rugby team to Rifle Park for the very first time.
After a very successful season for the Malone Tornadoes, Banbridge RFC are the second club within Ulster to develop a Mixed Ability Rugby team in their bid to become a ‘club for all’. Both teams will offer adults with a disability the opportunity to play 15-a-side rugby supported by experienced rugby players (facilitators). These facilitators guide players with a disability to fulfil their role within the game.
Banbridge RFC President, Maynard Sinton says, "For those who have experienced it on the pitch, it’s a very simple concept but trying to explain what it is and how it works to someone who hasn’t experienced it, is much more difficult than you can imagine. So, we thought the best way to raise awareness was to invite the Tornadoes for an exhibition game."
Banbridge RFC would like to see club members, potential players and facilitators come along on the day to find out more. It is hoped to follow this with an open evening for new players later in November.
The game will kick off at 2.30pm and everyone is welcome.
