Coleraine U12s Host 'friday Night Lights'

Coleraine RFC hosted the second of two regional U12 events on Friday 24th October. The first event was held at City of Derry on the 10th of October, 8 teams from the Northern region came together to play a number of matches with the aim of attracting new players into the game.

On Friday night Coleraine hosted 7 clubs including Ballymena, Ballymoney, Limavady, Strabane, Letterkenny and Rainey Old Boys with around 90 players taking part. The players demonstrated great skill, energy and enthusiasm and throughly enjoyed the experience.

Community Rugby Officer, Shaun Bloomfield Commented: "We wanted to provide an additional opportunity for U12 players to get some game time as well as providing the clubs with an opportunity to recruit players into a structured environment. I didn't imagine that it would have been so successful! In total 8 clubs took part over the 2 evenings and its has been so well received we are now looking to organise another couple of festivals soon. I would like to thank City of Derry and Coleraine for hosting the festivals and all the players, coaches and parents who came along."
