Sinn Fein MLA, Daithi McKay has launched a consultation on his Private Members Bill to exempt Amateur Sports Clubs from rates.

The Bill proposes that no Amateur Sports Club should have to pay rates which would bring Northern Ireland into line with legislation in both the Republic of Ireland and the rest of the UK.

We would like to encourage all clubs to respond.

The extension of 100% rates relief to the sports club sector would have a massive impact by taking away a significant financial barrier for many clubs allowing for greater investment back into the club sector for the benefit of sport and by extension their wider communities.
