The first round of the Danske Bank Girls' Secondary Schools Rugby 7s took place this week at the Mid-Ulster Sports Arena in Cookstown.
Over 200 girls from 17 squads (9 Senior and 8 Junior), representing 11 schools, took part.
The event was the first in a series of events where teams accumulate points based on their wins, draws, losses, tries for and tries against.
At the end of the series, the top two Junior Teams face each other in the Junior X7s Schools Cup Final at Cookstown in March. The top two Senior teams face each other in the Senior X7s Schools Cup Final at Kingspan Stadium on Wednesday 21st March.

The event also served as the qualifier for the All-Ireland Senior Girls’ Schools’ X7s Competition in Dublin on Wednesday 8th November. Monaghan and Enniskillen Royal Grammar School both qualify for the third year in succession and will be joined by last year’s Ulster Junior X7s Schools Cup winners, Loreto Letterkenny, and last season’s Danske Bank Tag Schools’ Cup winners, Royal School Dungannon. The four schools will represent Ulster against the top 4 schools’ teams from Connacht, Leinster and Munster.
