Depending on the number of schools entering the competition, the play-off phase will either be a one-day event, or two separate regional qualifying events.
The games will use the X7s rugby format, a faster-paced game played with seven-a-side over four periods of seven minutes on a half-size pitch.
Schools will be able to enter the Junior competition with the final played in a blitz format at the Mid-Ulster Sports Arena, and the Senior competition which concludes in the final at Kingspan Stadium.
Enniskillen Royal Grammar School remain the defending Girls Schools’ Senior Cup champions having won the last final, played in 2020. They beat Erne Integrated College 12-10 at Kingspan Stadium to retain their title.

- Senior X7s Final – Tuesday 22nd March, 12pm, Kingspan Stadium
- Junior X7s Qualifiers & Final – Wednesday 23rd March, Mid Ulster Sports Arena
The 2 finalists in each age category will also be invited to National Finals Day held in Dublin, scheduled for Wednesday 6th April 2022.

Danske Bank Girls Schools’ Tag Cup
The Tag (non-contact) competition is open to all secondary-aged girls, but is primarily aimed at the more experienced tag schools, or older players. Games are 10-a-side and are held on a one-day blitz format.

Girls Schools’ Development Tag
Development Tag is an option available to secondary schools who possibly aren’t ready for competitive tournaments. It is open to all secondary school aged girls, but aimed at newer schools or younger teams. Games are played up to 10-a-side (minimum of 7) and are run on a blitz format.

Year 8 Participation
This is a new event for Year 8 pupils (01/07/2009 to 30/06/2010) where games will be played based on player ability. Games are played up to 10-a-side (minimum of 7) and can be tag, touch or contact. This will take place on Wednesday the 23rd of March at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena.
