The draw for the second round of this season’s Danske Bank Schools’ Cup was made today at Royal School Dungannon following the host’s 14-20 loss to Omagh Academy.

DANSKE BANK SCHOOLS’ CUP ROUND 1 RESULTS:

  1. Foyle College 24 Friends’ School Lisburn 0
  2. Carrickfergus Grammar School 12 Portadown College 30
  3. Royal School Dungannon 14 Omagh Academy 20
  4. Banbridge Academy 30 Larne Grammar School 7
  5. Lurgan College 7 Antrim Grammar School 3
  6. Regent House 11 Wellington College 5
  7. Grosvenor Grammar School 43 Cambridge House 12

The seven winners from round 1 were joined in the draw by nine further teams: Bangor Grammar School, Belfast Royal Academy, Coleraine Academical Institution, Down High School, Limavady Grammar School, Belfast High School, Portora Royal School, Dalriada School and Rainey Endowed School. Eight teams will progress to the third round.

The draw was made by Ivan McMinn, Head of Corporate Banking at Danske Bank and Stephen Black, Headmasters’ Representative, Ulster Schools’ Committee, and is as follows:

  1. Dalriada School v Portadown College
  2. Banbridge Academy v Coleraine Academical Institution
  3. Down High School v Lurgan College
  4. Regent House v Portora Royal School
  5. Belfast High School v Omagh Academy
  6. Rainey Endowed School v Belfast Royal Academy
  7. Grosvenor Grammar School v Bangor Grammar School
  8. Limavady Grammar School v Foyle College

The fixtures are scheduled to be played on Saturday 25th January 2014.

The eight winners from round 2 will be joined in the last 16 by the remaining eight sides: Ballyclare High School, Ballymena Academy, Campbell College, Methodist College Belfast, Royal Belfast Academical Institution, Royal School Armagh, Wallace High School and Sullivan Upper School.

The draw for the quarter finals of the Danske Bank Schools’ Cup Trophy was also made today:

  1. BYE v Cambridge House
  2. Larne Grammar School v Royal School Dungannon
  3. Antrim Grammar School v Wellington College
  4. Friends’ School Lisburn v Carrickfergus Grammar School
