Derek Suffern steps down as Head Coach of Ballynahinch RFC

The council, players and club members of Ballynahinch RFC need and wish to formally record their grateful thanks and appreciation for the hard work of Derek Suffern over the past 11 years as Head Coach as he formally steps down from the role.

Derek has transformed rugby at Ballynahinch RFC and is held and will continue to be held, in the highest regard by all connected with the club for the way he has conducted his service to the club during his tenure. It is also noteworthy to mention, the manner in which he has managed his withdrawal from his position as Head Coach over the past year, to allow the club time to search for a suitable replacement.

During his time at Ballymacarn the club have won the following honours:

Ulster Senior Cup Winners: 2008/09, 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17
Ulster Senior League Winners: 2008/09, 2012/13, 2013/14, 2014/15
Junior Cup Winners: 2011/12, 2013/14, 2016/17
Towns Cup Winners: 2015, 2017
Crawford Cup Winners: 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017

This is together with numerous 2nd XV league titles.

Derek’s influence on the career development of so many, now professional, players and club players is a testament to his abilities as a coach and mentor and Hinch RFC wish him continued success within the game and every best wish to the family as a whole.

Derek will remain a Hinch man and the club looks forward to seeing him regularly in the future.
