A group of female teachers and community group leaders recently attended a one-day training event delivered by Ulster Rugby in conjunction with the Donegal Sports Partnership's "Girls Active Programme".
The attendees participated in, coached and assessed each other in a number of fun warm-ups and small-sided games which culminated in a simplified touch version of the game. The teachers and leaders will now go back and deliver a 6-week programme to girls at their to their respective organisations.
The coaches will reconvene at the Aura Leisure Centre on Wednesday 22nd March where their newly coached players will participate in a touch rugby festival against one another as one of the events centred around the Women’s Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour.
The following organisations took part in the training and will be involved in the upcoming event:
• Abbey Vocational School, Donegal Town
• Buncrana Youthreach
• Crana College, Buncrana
• Errigal College, Letterkenny
• Finn Valley Vocational School, Stranorlar
• Inishowen RFC Youth Development Coach
• Lifford Youthreach
• Mulroy College, Milford
• Rosses Community College, Dungloe
• Scoil Mhuire, Buncrana
• St Catherines Vocational School, Killybegs
