Dromore High School win U14 competition

During the last 2 weeks Ulster Branch development staff in conjunction with the High Schools rugby committee ran 6 qualifying events in which 46 schools took part.

The prize was to reach the U14 High School finals hosted by Ballymena RFC on the 9th February 2017.

12 teams qualified for finals day with some new schools competing for the first time including St.Eunans, Letterkenny, Virgina College and Domincan College.

After some closely contested group games the semi-finals lined up with Lurgan JHS v Dromore and Killicomaine v Markethill. Both semi-finals where keenly contested but Dromore and Killicomaine edged out their opponents to set up a very intriguing final.

After a long day's rugby both teams maintained the endeavour they had showed all day, but it was Dromore HS who came out on top 12 – 0.

We would like to thank the 6 clubs who hosted the regional qualifiers, Letterkenny RFC, Ballymoney RFC, Clogher Valley, Carrick, Banbridge and Virginia as well as Ballymena RFC for hosting the finals. We would also like to thank the Branch referee’s who assisted with this competition.
