The day was hailed as a massive success when over 200 girls representing 12 clubs from all over Ulster descended on Stevenson Park to compete in four games of rugby at U15 and U18 level, demonstrating that female rugby in Ulster is growing from club to club and strength to strength.
In the U15 section Dungannon fought hard winning their first 3 matches before suffering a 3-0 defeat to a well organised Virginia team that finished top of the U15 group.
In the U18 section Virginia again topped their group winning all four of their matches with Armagh and Belfast Harlequins coming joint second.
These type of competitions ensures that teams of all standards participate at an appropriate level, and in matches that have meaning well beyond the full time whistle. This ultimately helps the ladies game to grow and flourish.
Competing U18 teams: Letterkenny, Armagh, Ballynahinch, Virginia, Bangor, Ballymoney, Malone, Ballyclare and Belfast Harlequins
Competing U15 teams: Dungannon, Virginia, Lurgan, Clogher Valley and Letterkenny
