Enniskillen RFC hosts annual Oisin McGrath memorial trophy blitz

Yesterday’s annual Oisin McGrath Trophy blitz, hosted by Enniskillen RFC, was a resounding success.

The trophy is a memorial event for Oisin McGrath, a young man from St. Michael's College, Enniskillen, who tragically lost his life following an accident at the school. Enniskillen Rugby Football Club (ERFC) honours Oisin, a former player, by hosting an annual rugby blitz.

Yesterday's blitz, held in his honour, saw four schools participate: St. Michael's College, Enniskillen Royal Grammar School, St. Joseph's College, and Devenish College.

All teams played four matches, with a strong emphasis on enjoyment and participation. It was fantastic to witness some excellent rugby, but what truly stood out was the enthusiasm and passion shown by the St. Michael's lads every time a teammate made a good play.

Since St. Michael's and St. Joseph's are predominantly Gaelic games schools, their attendance and obvious enjoyment of the rugby blitz is a significant victory for the community and the promotion of the sport.

St. Michael's College was awarded the Oisin McGrath Trophy at the end of the day. Furthermore, four boys (one from each school) received a special ERFC ball in recognition of the commitment and exceptional attitude they displayed throughout the tournament.
