Enniskillen Royal Grammar School win Danske Bank Girls' Junior X7s Final

They beat 13 other schools to secure the title as the competition was played out in full on Wednesday at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena.

Each team competed in a group stage of 3 matches, with the top 2 in each group progressing to the quarter-finals.

The semi-finals saw Enniskillen Royal come out on top against a strong Magh Ene team, as well as a local clash where Devenish College just missed out on a spot in the final, beaten by neighbours Fivemiletown College.

It was the first time Fivemiletown had ever reached a Girls' X7s final, and they had to take on an experienced Enniskillen Royal side.

ERGS captain Leah Irwin opened the scoring with a strong break through the Fivemiletown defence, but this didn't stop Fivemiletown as they scored twice in quick succession to bring the score at half-time to Enniskillen Royal 3, Fivemiletown College 2.

However, the experience from ERGS proved too much for Fivemiletown and in the second half, strong carries and quick breaks down the wing led them to victory as they beat Fivemiletown 5-2.

Both teams will now join the Senior finalists, Erne Integrated College and Enniskillen Royal Grammar School, at the IRFU National Girls' Schools' Final in Dublin on 6th April.
